Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Incoming AAP layoffs will affect DMs the most

Upcoming cuts are based on maximizing payroll savings through reduction in longer term employees that make higher income. DMs are a large focus where store count can be increased and a DM eliminated. It is unfortunate that many of these folks moved up through the ranks only to be kicked to the curb by an employer that sees them only as a number not an individual who did everything asked of them. True leaders do not cull people like cattle.

Bumped from @PLQ5orX-ozm for info.

Gm’s in my district have a sixth day work week to go to a meeting with another district.

Not sure what’s it’s about. This should be interesting...

I know a team member that was recently promoted to a DM position. He moved to another city with his family, purchased a home, put the kids in a new school, and is now going to be cut by year end. All for what he thought was an opportunity to grow his career when in fact he has uprooted his family and will be unemployed soon. What a prince of a company...ruthless bastards!

They have cut our store help so much in the last 3 months we are losing customers. Not to mention the employees paychecks. Right now I have made 3000.00 dollars less than I had last year at this time. And with insurance going up next year take home pay is going to be even worse. Mr Potato Head and his clowns aren't taking any pay cuts up in Roanoke. That's where they need to start cutting if they want to save some money and employees. Advance's turnover rate has to be over 50%. We have had 4 people in my store quit and take other jobs because of the hours being cut.

I figure they are looking at the CARQUEST employees who transitioned over and are paid better than the same Advance employees. They don't fit into Advance's low pay scale. That's why they can't keep help and keep losing business.

The stores have already been cut to the bone for employee payroll hours, not to mention few full timers left, the next step would have to be closing stores .

Just saw the latest spreadsheet on the upcoming round of layoffs. If you have a family to support and need insurance, I'd start looking for new employment before year end. Stores will be particularly hard hit.

sometimes employees who are chased away can reply to business in a big way after finding work with the competition. Especially the higher paid long term experienced ones! This may be starting to show up in the stock value now!

I’ve seen this exact thing happen over and over. Time to go before my number comes up.
