Get rid of non-technical dead weight

Eventually someone somewhere will figure out every BU and BE has their own training team, their own project management office, their own cheerleader and then a bunch of people to "interlock" those people with the same function inside other groups. When that happens a whole bunch of non-technical people living off the engineering talent inside cisco will get the axe.

So many people with non-related degrees and "experience" of pushing paper around other larger corporations are just expensive dead weight.

either make something valuable, sell something valuable or get the hell out of the way

So much this, @PIJsetZ-ryj. I know non-technical staff in a tech company is necessary, but what we have has crossed all the lines. And for some reason, they are immune to layoffs. It's ridiculous.

many of the deadweight "women" directors, who were hiding behind their sugar daddys got kicked out. Again, they got kicked out of the second job, they got in a smaller company. Now they are job less this year.

Proves that cisco has been promoting and maintaining some useless women executives in the name of diversity !!

I have at Cisco for the past 23yrs, I joined when I was 28. I have been guaranteed employment till retirement at age 62. Got 11yrs more to go.

Everyone is replaceable at Cisco. EVERYONE. No position is safe. There is no team to hide behind. Cisco culture is one of continuous layoffs. Everyone's number is up, ... eventually. It doesn't matter if you have a college degree from Harvard, or a Certificate from a local community college. Working at Cisco is a temporary job. It's not a long-term career. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Tell me why a random person with a BA degree from a random state school and/or a PMP credential from some weekend night classes should be at Cisco making decisions that impact sellers, partners and engineers? These people have no connection to the industry, the technology or the people. They are completely replaceable interchangeable drones.

It has nothing to do with who when to college and everything to do with who has unique saleable skills.

Don’t discount “non-technical” folks. You could have the best product in the world. But if you can’t explain why someone would actually want to buy it, it doesn’t matter.

I sense a lot of insecurities with OP if you feel to over qualified and technical it should not be a problem finding a new job. Life is too short to be worrying of what other people can or can't do just move on let it go. It's ok I get it you don't have much going on but your comfy seat and keyboard. Focus on yourself and stop blaming others for your failures and stop pumping your chest because you went to college. So you need an establishment to charge and motivate you to learn well good for you and know some are better at being self taught. I didn't go to college and my writing skills are terrible but my coding skills are better than some Cal and Stanford grads and making 175K a year. I hope that pizzes you off even more OP.

I agree with your comments. There is a great deal of dead weight at Cisco and I personally witnessed a lot of "duplication of efforts". I know of many Cisco employees without college degrees, in non-technical support roles, who are earning over $100K per year. They keep low and don't rock the boat, so they can stay in their "comfy" roles.
