Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Not everybody believes the end is near for GE

Well, I guess not everybody sees an impending doom in General Electric's future. I am still on the fence about the new CEO, but I can say that this guy makes a few good points. In any case, this is an interesting read.

I don't know the person who wrote this article, but do not find it convincing. The stock price has been in severe decline since May. Just look at the chart. The author is advocating buying now, but to me this is the classic attempt to "catch a falling knife". There are rumors that GE will reduce the dividend. If this happens, the stock price will take a huge hit because many people own GE because of the dividend. It is also likely the company will attempt to reset expectations when it reports earnings on October 20. This will also negatively impact the stock price. To anyone who advocates buying now, I say go for it. I'll be happy to take the stock off your hands when the price tumbles into the teens.

Let's not be complacent. I enjoyed my time at the company, the early years were more fun than the last few. I wish it well and hope it can turn itself around. I remember an analyst saying he share price would be $73 on the back of prefix.
