I think there are about 1000 ex-Alstom in Windsor CT. Have been hearing rumors of an eventual Windsor closure for a few months. Perhaps tomorrow will be the announcement? Amazing, I've seen some GE blunders in my limited 12 years here, but buying a company for 10 billion and throwing it overboard as the ship sinks surely tops them all. Good Job to whoever sold Alstom (Cochet? Why is he even on the payroll still?) and good job to Trian Funds friend's shorting GE.

GE is like a Mickey Mouse BS game. GE doesn’t know what it’s doing period! They make that up as they go!

I hope the whole company goes under and everyone is out of a job like me. Such a crazy company to work for, I put my job before my faimly when I had to! For what? To get let go 2 1/2 years later. My better half cheated on me while I was working for a heart less sweat Shop called GE.

Hey at least I knew my job and the ins and outs. That clown that replaced me is always late to work, they didn’t take the interest in learning the job they accepted.

I bet management is hopeful the guys on the floor will show the new person their job. Good luck with that! I highly doubt that the clowns in the office know the job too.

The office people running this sector of GE in to the ground! So Mr CEO and your to boost your ego please read this and send all the work over seas like the ones before you did.

I hear Stokes is supposed to have some announcement Tuesday 10/10....probably more cuts. Consolidation, reduction in workforce, you name it. He does not know crap about power and nor does he care. In my opinion he is a hatchet man.

This business has been cyclical for as long as it has been around. The question I have is how the h_ll did he get this job? His resume does not dictate he having enough experience to run a division the size and stature of Power. Think about it ...This division is only second ot GE aviation in CM and gross sales. John seems to have the smarts ..let see how long it takes for him to see the forest from the trees. In my opinion, Power needs leader not a hatchet man that is going to screw up a business for years to come.

Want to boost morale? Take down all the Recruiting posts, and stop going to job fairs. Replace all GE recruiting sites with "I am sorry we are not accepting new applications at this time."

Sarcasm intended "GE to lay off 300 coat room attendants, while still recruiting for new hires on all social media."

What businesses in Schenectady are going to be affected? There's more than just the factory here.

“Massive” defined as historic even for GE. GE is always planning on layoffs. This one will be remembered for many years as one of the largest ever for GE. Layoffs are in GE’s standard business model.

Well in the Power business there are a lot of ex-Alstom people between Windsor, Chattanooga and Atlanta. I don't put a lot of stock in things I read anymore. Makes more since to me that GE would just sell the IP to a competitor.

550 out the door in Schenectady. That would leave roughly 650 in Schenectady.
