Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

The financial liability of the employee

It is repeated a hundred times in the famous document that all rights to our Works are transferred to Sabre, and even if they are not, they are. Etc.

This is understandable and I accept it. The transfer of these rights is also included in our standard employment contract, which was valid until now.

In latest document, a very interesting phrase appeared:

„In addition, I understand and agree to indemnify and hold the Company harmless from the liability and COVER ALL COSTS and COMPENSATIONS that may arise if I fail to grant such rights or fail to fulfill my obligations.”

So if something goes wrong, you will overlook something, you will not read something and as a result you will use one library too much, then you are in the deep sh.. The company is clean and you're in court with Amadeus, Air Berlin or other Facebook. And YOU pay compensation!

We developers are also humans. We are imperfect. Imagine that we are also making mistakes! That's why there is a Legal Department in most of the companies and that's why the companies also employ external lawyers and take responsibility for our Work on which they earn money, but also protect their employees by taking responsibility for our possible mistakes. This is how honest companies work, which take care of their employees and protect them, because they know that it is the employees who determine the value of the company.

If I have misunderstood something in the document, please correct me.

My previous message might be deleted as I wrote it in Polish. This is just a quick translation, so forgive me all imperfections. I think this page is not a good place for debate. But in the company the new agreement is a taboo and nobody wants to talk about it. It’s been a week since all this has started and we haven’t heard a word of explanation.

This is really bad. Employees of KRK should find something else.
