Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Departure

After many years working at Citrix I was was let go today.

First time being let go during my career and having always been dedicated to my job, always wearing the company shirt.

This is a very sad moment folks. Hope you don't go through this. It is hard to imagine waking up in the morning and not having a job to drive to. I will miss my friends.

Very good hard working people are gone and that's so very sad.

@PBUmPMA-imx - Unfortunately true. I feel those who were let go yesterday are actually the lucky ones. I wanted to be part of the layoffs yesterday and take my severance and move on with the next step in my life but I'm still here and I'm honestly dreading what comes next.

As for OP - take it from someone who has been through this countless times in various companies and has actually been laid off 4 times thus far in my career. Each and every time, I ended up moving on to a better position where I not only learned I had acquired marketable skills in my previous stint but the opportunities available to me opened up. I know it's a s---y feeling right now and some of you let go yesterday may question yourself and your ability/worth/etc. DON'T. You can't take this personal, it is a part of corporate life in America today. Your life will go on and you will probably be better for it in the end.

Sorry, not trying to sound preachy, just trying to get the point across that this isn't the end of the world. Best of luck to all of you departing us at this time. Many of you I consider great friends and co-workers who made an impact on my life.

I was 48 when I was let go for the first time in my life in 2016 & after ~20 years at Citrix. It felt like my world came crushing down. But in this day and age you can reinvent yourself. You will be surprised at how many skills you've gained over your years at Citrix. So many more opportunities out there once you get over this initial shock, despair & fear of the unknown. Here's to a brighter future to each of you impacted.
