Thread regarding Colgate-Palmolive Co. layoffs

Colgate Palmolive VERP News

Current rumor has VERP being offered to lower level people next, followed by more straight up layoffs. I know there are a lot of lower level folks salivating for a package, those that are left will break from the stress or find other employment out of necessity.

Colgate is prepping itself to be sold. There is no way they can maintain operations with the current staffing levels in many departments, not sure what others see. Even CP's outsourced operations centers in Mumbai and other 3rd worlds are now saying they cant handle any more work.

99% of rumors @ CP are true. Because some AS* in upper management will leak the news, as they can't keep their mouth shut.

A number of people are retiring. What packages did they get? Age requirements and at what level?

The next two weeks will provide the details of Colgate Palmolive future. Management has already decided who will move up with promotions verses lateral. Sadly, it will not be done fairly. Unique individuals are being promise as we speak with promotions behind closed doors. Many of them will be promoted by Nov and mid next year. A gift before their management leaves. Some people will be moved to crazy positions in the hopes they leave the company just to make room for someone management likes to keep their jobs. Some groups are making their intentions quite obvious. Not surprised. Moves and layoffs will occur as part of the restructuring. Some say it will begin over the next two weeks. For some it has already started. The new organization will be lateral.. ... Before many of the managers leave next week ask them an honest questions about your future. Don't be upset about the response they give you. Just plan for a better future. I am not happy with what I am seeing these days. I see a lot of bias and unethical behaviors going on with many of the support functions. Don't be scared or nervous. Speak up for yourself and if needed seek outside advice. Don't be afraid. ..

They are going to get rid of Colgate all together. No way they can continue to operate with all the departures and retirements.

They are going to get rid of having different categories and have one big one. That includes the same tactics for support function. If that is the case.....I need to start looking for a job asap.

I got so fed up over last three years I left in November 2016 without lining up another job. It was stupid, I know, but I just could not handle it any more - the manager was so bad.... It all worked out, took me about 10 weeks to find another job. I was in IT though, not sure about other positions, but for IT the job market is fiarly good.

Good luck to all of you who are still with CP...

Rumors have a way of being true. Something is going on especially with the support functions. More people are thinking about leaving CP. They are tired and frustrated. More importantly, who wants to wait to get a pink slip. We will see what Oct, Nov and Dec bring. I will not be positive or negative but I will be watching.
