Any idea who is going to run for hall position?
Non-Union GE plants enjoy the benefits of union plants without having to pay those weekly dues. Greenville even gets jobs when GE tries to flee the union. Unions are parasites to companies. GE leaders do not like the parasitic competition.
exactly what it is, no unity no nothing the guys that work their butts off every night are the ones getting crapped on well the ones that do the bare minimum and screw off all night get away with it. I agree looking out for one another going to meetings will help but you don't know who you can trust anymore. as far as new guys getting in office sometimes change is what's needed instead of the same old bs someone with balls that will actually stand up for the people and help create unity is what's needed and right now we don't have that.
Local 301 is the biggest joke of a Union. There is absolutely zero unity among the members and that is in large part because of the 2 tier pay scale and the fact that our current Union leadership is following in the footsteps of the last Union leaders and not showing up on the shop floor. These guys are only in the positions that they are in because their fathers were a bunch of union blowhards who made arrangements to ensure that their sons could inherit positions at the hall. I would rather have no union than a union that only does things to better certain people. I have more respect for a company kiss a-- than a union kiss a--. At least the company kiss a-- might get a gift card out of it. The union kiss a-- will get a sh--ty contract rammed up his a--, zero presence from his union leadership and still has to shell out $15.10 a week.
It does not matter who is in office! The members on the floor will-
*still vote for a crap contract!
*give management pointers on how to run the floor and kiss a--!
*still will vote for that sell-out money!
*still will vote in the so called competitive health care!
*still won't go to the hall and voice opinions on issues on the floor! (That's where it should start going to the hall! Not on here!)
*the old timers that gave their blood sweat and tears for GE back in the day most likely are rolling over where they rest in complete disbelief. No pension, split $10+ pay, 💩 healthcare.
*the company and union wonder why a lower scale guy only puts in 2% into his retirement. Well 8% would be $65 or more week!
Do the math!
GE is no more than a fly by night J O B! Not a career! If it was than maybe management would treat the shop floor with a little more respect! Many shop floor members with half a brain don't give not one but two 💩 Craps about GE or the J O B! There was life before GE and life after GE!
The answer is go to the hall, raise hell, stick together, look out for one another. It is us againts them we have to draw a fine line. No more small talk with the management team! No more buddy buddy with the management team. No wont happen because to many a-- kissers on the floor. To many members with NO BALLS!
Our union is in the company's pocket has been since it became a closed shop. There's no reason for any of them to do anything for us they have no fear of losing their dues. They stopped working for us when that happened
Oh and u think some people that have no background in the union at all can do better I've heard that a lot in my 24 years not a chance
