They didn't drop it. The dropped one patent out of the six patents they claimed Apple was infringing.

Because they want a "humble" solution which is a good settlement without too much penalty in $$, instead of getting into a dog-flight with their big customer and maybe the rest of the big players in the industry. How many "customers" they can keep suing against by these patterns?
