Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

The Real GE vs the Marketed GE

GE is closing or moving all of the GRC foreign sites over to the businesses...that means you, Munich Bangalore and Brazil. AND they are cutting the NSK workforce by about 400 more heads.

So when the folks on this site see the BS LinkedIn articles about Immelts greatness, start responding/commenting with the truth. Amazing, the guy isn't good enough for low-tech Uber but we felt it was ok for him to run GE into the ground for 17 years.

In schenectady manufacturing one third of the people laid off in the last round were females with engineering degrees that were , while that unit isn't more than five to ten percent women. They only care about female engineers for Edison programs, not for positions in general.

The 20k female engineer target is particularly irksome. GE is in desperate need of good engineers. Period. It doesn't matter their s-x, creed, color, or religion. As was already pointed out by an earlier poster the talent pipeline simply is not there in high school and university to provide those kind of numbers. Also nice to learn that DTLP admittance is using gender as a major factor (they want 50/50), which from my understanding is of questionable legality. They are also pushing HR to fill out candidate pools with more women. Even if little or no women apply, they are being forced go to back and scrape the bottom of the barrel to kick some up. What a joke.

Those people praising Immelt are clearly looking for s----up bonuses. And this whole thing about hiring 20k females into technical positions. Exactly what is GE doing to increase the number of females in university engineering programs? Next to nothing! What a joke....

The marketing articles posted on LinkedIn by GE (especially about hiring) has to be the greatest hypocrisy examples ever perpetrated on potential customers, the public and interested workforce candidates .

To me it shows a desperate brand preservation campaign given the turmoil left behind in the wake of Executive exiting and mass layoffs. Several laid off GE employees responding to those "save face" LinkedIn articles are entertaining. Keep it up!
