Windstream posted today that they have entered into an agreement to partner with AT&T and directv. Not sure if this is what is causing this round of layoffs but it could be. This company is the most backwards run company I have ever seen. They are running behind on installs and repairs, their public image is in the garbage due to the poor customer service, so they cut the ones that do provide the customer service. Not smart! That will lead to even longer wait times for the customer to have service installed and repaired when there is a problem, and we all know there will be problems! They should have cut a few of their 140+ VP's and added to the personnel in the field. They should have done what they said they were going to do with the Government's money and built up their outside plant. Instead they "invested" our taxes dollars into facilities that did not help customers gain reliable internet service.
They are now planning on replacing support staff with robots. They have laid people off and sent their jobs to India. Now with this last layoff they went through and offered people buyouts. Then a lot of people put in for the buyout and was then denied. Two days later they were fired with no buy out! That tells you what kind of people they have running this place. They kept all kind of annalist jobs sorry local managers that have the worst numbers within the company (Political reasons saved that job!) middle managers that have nothing to do but sit around and think about better ways to do a job that they don't know how to do themselves!
This is a horrible run company now and that is a shame considering where it came from.
