Heard that final decisions are taking regarding UCS. Not sure why Cisco wants to close down on its hardware business and move only to software model. Sept-Oct will be a turmoil period ! Very late to market in cloud strategy.

Well that's good to hear. If CR means it, then he should fire that D--k-weed currently running that team. My guess is Stealthwatch won't be a market maker for UCS BTW.
UCS can't RIP. It's the new hardware platform for Stealthwatch. Also, when CR was recently asked about it, he stated that sometimes there was more to a decision than just money, and that customers depend on UCS.
You see, customers will only role their eyes when they hear Cisco's CEO brag about 60+ points margin on the business every 3 months, but customer who've invested in the UCS/DC vision with their wallets will now join the ever growing ABC army. One characteristic of successful, new economy companies is intense focus on customers. This is foundational, but not convenient for Cisco apparently
Seems legit... there is no clear roadmap defined after M5 series, if this doesnt pick , time to pack.
Very fake news.
M5 series is out now. They are putting old ones on EOS. Cisco sells a lot of gear in private cloud !
Plenty of companies run their server farms without UCS Manager. Cisco costs are too high as we don't have the volume to drive down component costs (CPU, Mem, HDD).
Ahhhhh.... How about the UCS Servers, Fex(s), and Fabric Interconnects? Everything north of that is not a UCS :) Re: the UCS software. Are you saying UCS Manager is vital to any given DC, whether it's populated with UCS or not? If so, you need to step away from the koolaid, seek clarity my son.
OP didn't explain why? If you're trolling at least do some research. Which hardware under UCS? It is the routers, switches and servers?
I'm not believing this unless you justify why hardware business would be shutdown.
Assuming if what you say is true, where will UCS software run on? and manage which hardware?
That's nonsense. Cisco can't wean itself off hardware sales. Every new "software strategy" is tied to a hardware special promotion.
And customers for now still like the predictability. While they evaluate other models.
Anyone remember DEC and VAX?
Ericsson is done - put a fork in it.
Lot of new ucs products to be released!
Oh no!
What works in Cisco? Products fail. Partnerships fail. There was a big announcement of an alliance with Ericsson. What happened to that alliance? Supposed to make $1B. How much Cisco is really making from Apple and IBM partnerships? I cannot believe Cisco is thinking of shutting down UCS. WTF.
Such rubbish! no such stuff is happening. Lot of new ucs products to be released!
Ya right. Make money on DC switching. That's funny considering Arista, White Box, etc. Never did understand why JC felt it was Cisco's right to boast 60+ margin on the business to Wall Street every quarter. Fodder for the competition. UCS was a great product with a lot of promise. FUBAR.
Customers like UCS. But Cisco doesn't like the crap margins on server hardware. The only software customers want is UCSM which is free. All the other pay-for DC software is rubbish and nobody wants it. At least Cisco can still regroup and make money on DC networking to keep decent margins. It is hard to make money nowadays on PC server hardware.
