It looks like they are in an aggressive hiring expansion, I got a feedback that there is huge redundancy and politics there.

Apple has an elite engineering team. Qualcomm is 90% garbage engineers. Only 10% Qualcomm engineers could even make it past interviews at Apple. If you are a good Qualcomm engineer, your dream is to be accepted into Apple for better work and much better pay. Qualcomm pay sux
I like open office area. Is fun be as long as people work and no talk of the loudly.

Interview question from Fruit Inc director: "Do you have a greencard?"
I let you guys figure out what the correct answer is ..... btw, I didn't eat the Fritos bag
Apple has very low turnover.
Someone is posting fairy tale rumors from click bait websites. The only way to know is to work there. It seems like people who work there don't leave - wonder why?
OP here: I got an offer a few years ago and I declined. Glad to be far from Cupertino. Apple reminds me of Nokia's arrogance during Motorola demise. What intrigues me is the extreme secrecy and redundant model, it works while the money is flowing but it can collapse rapidly. I am in the 5G project and not in the riff raff one.
I like being busy working on something interesting. A bunch of us here have been without work for almost 2 weeks....what's going on at Qualcomm? Is there no new business?

One anecdote doesn't speak for the thousands of Apple employees that love their company.
Keep thinking that working at Apple s---s. It keeps out the rif-raff like yourself.

"missed one business trip as my wife was pregnant, fell down the stairs and had to be hospitalised - this was listed as a 'performance issue' on my record and brought up during a one on one with management as a major 'miss' on my behalf."
If you're passionate about your work and a good engineer then Apple will not be a sweatshop. You'll take pride in your work and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
If you're a Qualcomm engineer that just gets by - you might find it difficult to even pass a phone screen.
It's a good filter. Let people think it's a sweatshop. Apple doesn't want passionless losers that can't cut it in an elite engineering environment.
Apple will never buy Qualcomm.
They will first destroy the QTL business model and then raid the top 10% of good QCT engineers to build their own modem.
Face it - 90% of Q engineers are garbage compared to the quality at Apple.
Sweatshop or not, making money is important. If Q can do that, nobody would be visiting this website in the first place.
If Apple buys Qualcomm they will layoff 80% including directors and principals of 0 reports and no contribuitions, also Arrogant and Mafia VP's like MR. soup the PTE Godfather
Maybe apple will buy Qualcomm and fix all the problems
Apple stock is way better.
Check the quote.
Better to work in tyranny at Apple than to die in infamy at the Q.
Pay is good at apple qcom sux.
80% of Q engineers are not good enough to work at Apple.
Apple cafeteria is waaaaay better. Line up early for super fresh sushi
Better at Apple than Qualcomm ASIC group headed by slave driver KK.
Tyranic-like culture.
Nobody says fruit anymore. The PC term is the gaze....
Comparable to McDonalds making slightly different burgers all day long.
Be nice. They don't say fruit anymore the polite term is the g--s
