Agreed. There are still many team leads, project managers, and even group managers with only 1 or 2 in their reporting line. How could this happen in the first place?
Also, engineering/technology managers, directors, and VPs are not making real contribution. Not to mention, SETC and many metiers too.
Worse in slb, s-u-c-k-u-p is the key.
This is standard in oil service industry. They are not managers because of ability but who they s--- up.
