Service Provider becoming Wonderland...

On top of the simply "through the looking glass" split in SP initiated by Y, the hits keep on coming.

Another SP announcement of yet another layer added to exec ranks - that makes 2 in about 6 months. It seems that while we lay off PM's and TME's we hire directors and VP's.

Ominously, the latest reorg includes a plan from BG to be building a "a team center of excellence for India-based PM/TME resources ... with less scattering of resources across our team."

So, there you have it - PM's and TME are going to be "un-scattered" into India. Resumes are simply being polished right throughout the organization after that howler.

It's clear that this SP BU is being simply poisoned by bizarre management and simply unfathomable organizational changes. This makes us out in the field incredibly angry because of how this will affect the quality of people I can have front up to meet my customer (we're currently waiting 4 weeks for an on-site visit from an Indian based TME whilst the visa gets sorted). Perhaps I suggest that my customer learns some Hindi or at least get an Indian visa organized?

The whole management chain in SP is simply not it for purpose.

We thought SP was wonderland before, but cry me a river. Another reorg - even more convoluted than the last. Friday announcement was bizarre - AV doling out an hour of "how to be a PM and TME". Like without brain dead execs we wouldn't know that? How did we get to be such a business without such guidance?

Heh heh - there is actually another offsite today and tomorrow.

I actually heard the back-story to their latest reshuffle. For quite a while SS had been in SP and trying to move back to India - rumors was he was trying to get business up on top of his already significant businesses in RTP. He was pitching India globalization story - build up a team (TME+PM) there, and let him go back and run it.

Well, with the fall of BG, it never happened, and SS eventually had to get on his own horse to make journey. So happens that at about the time he was to move (resignation expected), BG was rehabilitated and so SS was given some BS make-work job in India (I'm told they are TIGHT).

Well, time passes, and it seams that his whole India thing did no go as planned and he wanted come back to RTP. Sooo, he pitched whole "India Inc" thing to BG and now he's back and lending "management depth" to the team.

Sort of strange, since team he's going to lead has actually been the steady performer in SP over last few years. Some reward for those folks: no promotions and pushed one layer down stack.

Time for another "off-site" to discuss how to "drive" the new new new new strategy. SP leadership is the reincarnation of the Keystone Kops.
