Tomorrow is the big day. Who else got a meeting request? How many telecommuters were told they can't telecommute on 7/27? Do you think getting a meeting request means you're safe or getting the axe?

Got my dates wrong. It was kind a blur there for a while. I was let go in a phone call on 7/20. They top manager who was on the call laying me off is now gone himself, along with the executive above him. Both were very long term employees of UOPX. Nobody is safe.
Had benefits until 8/4. Got a 5 week severance. Others who were there longer might have gotten more. COBRA is $1500/month for one person, and that is only medical, not dental or eye. Fun times! Still have not received unemployment money. It won't come until mid September.
This happened. I am not sure why you think it is a lie. There were many let go on July 23-27 or whatever. I was let go along with my boss and his boss on 7/23. There were many others in the department let go as well. We were all in Academic Affairs. Many were long term employees working our a@@es off. One was a telecommuter.
It did not pay off to be so loyal to UOPX. Get your resumes ready and keep your skills current. Start looking now, even if it is to practice applying and interviewing. There are other jobs out there and they might just be places where you do not come in every day wondering if it will be your last.
Here we go, no one layed off. But here we go, no one layed off but Here we go a lying again. It sure was a good time stirring everyone up. I am a mentally sick loser without a life. This is my only interaction with others. I stir you respond, fun fun and more fun.
Fake news
In a college... had less than a dozen laid off today, some in office some telecommuters. Most were long term quality people. I wish them the best. Downsizing to meet new budget and new future... whatever it may be.
No locations or departments named equals it did not happen
It's nice to know after they kick you to the curb they monitor this site.
Hi HR!
Could be general like, QC, Enrollment position, Academic position, finance, etc
HR tells the people if they share the news with anyone that they don't get their severance. People are uncomfortable sharing their team/dept name.
If you do not say the department you were cut from, then your credibility is zero . Name department so we can verify .
Any enrollment managers let go?
They said I make too much money for my position and offered to drop my salary to the maximum; I said no time to move on
Well they gave me severance at least more tomorrow
They do not seem to be doing it in large waves. It appears to be happening discreetly each day. Best wishes to everyone. This is definitely not a joke.
Any layoffs in the department of Admissions and Records today?
This is no joke, I know dozens of people who have been let go today. Very clinical two minute meeting individually between supervisors and HR. Of course only middle level management is getting canned, the Executive Deans who waste money and add no value and their yes men/women get to stay. No love for long standing, high performing, employees.
So someone enjoys stirring the pot. That is one sick sub human personality trait. Maybe someday you will grow up and stop living in your mama basement.
Everyone that I know who went to a meeting is back at their desk working.
So no layoffs just meetings
A lot of people from just got out of meetings discussing the riser program. Some people that telecommute came in for that meeting
What departments?
It's been going on all morning...and it's not over yet
Isn't it like 7:30?
Where are the big bad layoffs, crickets. I do not hear you. Where????
sorry folks, wishing you all best of luck. But, I really don't think that you can say- you haven't seen this coming--basically, you've had many, many months to find a new employer...for those left, I'm sure your jobs will be even tougher, are you really happy in the environment, even if you're 'skating', have pride and keep current with your skills, you may be cut next, this is not the company to bury your heads (most are not these days)...
SAS is School of Advanded Studies. Our team started getting 1 on 1 calls to let them go earlier this week. We haven't received an invite to a call yet. We heard we will have the call today. Every July/Aug we have cuts. It doesn't matter that it is our busy time of year.
I work in OAR (Office of Admissions and Records) any indication there will be layoffs in that department?
What is SAS?
SAS is part of it. No call scheduled just all told to be in at 8 am.
may just be update meeting, so don't get your shorts too tangled..
So, who has meetings tomorrow? This is the prove. If no follows up with which departments have meetings tomorrow, then you know nothing is going to happen.
usually 2 calls.
1st is downsized people, 2nd call is- here's what just happened, now get to work...
Time will tell, I am on vacation. Tomorrow could be a bust. Or the real deal.
