Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Can we relax now?

Now that we have had a really strong quarter, can we relax, or is the threat of layoffs still looming over us? I guess we'll have to wait and see, but for once, I am hopping for the best.

We have been relaxing for years now. Bring on the packages so we can get out for good. You mindlessllennials can carry on repacking everything we already commercialised for years to come. Upper management will never know.

Why do you ask that?!

You do realized new phase of seniority adjustment just started.

Slb is hiring young energetics to replace exhausted employees.

No one after 3 years working hell is motivated anymore so slb is better with young motivated.

If you are above 30 (yes 30) you are in high risk like I do.

The Q2 results, if you read the summary carefully, show a loss...that is not good.

Read my lips....There is too much oil. The price, apart from small fluctuations, will remain low for a decade or more. Drilling will become more cut throat as companies compete for work and Schlumberger is was away too top/management heavy to compete....and you can shelve sea drilling for ages. The worst is yet to come.

This is the oil industry, your job is always at risk. No one is indispensable.
