The party line responses about giving 100% are the result of 1) this person has a golden parachute 2) been consuming too much koolaid for too long, that he/she is blind to the facts of what's around the corner, or 3) sarcasm. It s---s to have invested all your working career at one company, and giving it your all, but this was a business deal for CAB owners and execs, not outfitters.
The top execs stand to make combined $28m when the change in control happens. They are being paid to keep everyone on board, calm, and hopeful of a promised land. http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/business/2017/07/20/cabelas-executives-stand-make-millions-bass-pro-takeover/470153001/
From my experience in M/A's, which is nearly a 100 of them, it will play out like this. 1) just prior to CiC, there will be significant layoffs, CAB books will have to absorb the severance payout, 2) after CiC, the vast majority of duplicated positions/titles/departments/services will be eliminated at CAB, 3) the few positions that represent "a base of operations" in Sidney will be for house cleaning, migrating CAB systems data to BP, and turning out the lights, could take a couple of months at most.
Giving your all is coming to a dead end road.
