What is happening to GOM's Lean Sigma program?

Lean Sigma is like the fable of the Kings New Clothes. Everyone knows it is a crock of s** t but few including senior management will stand up and say so. I agree with 4yad below. The number of wasters calling themselves Lean Sigma gurus should be cut to one or two and kept within ETC where the BU's can call on them if required which I suspect won't be very often.
True... Lean Sigma does work not very well at Chevron, because we misuse it. But, reality is that LS is not meant for most anything. If adhered to strongly, its application pays off on mega complicated capital projects, nothing more. What to save lots of money? Layoff every LS department across the company and keep only one or two Lean Sigma gurus in ETC. Farm them out as needed to the BU's where that discipline will pay off.
Tools are as good as people make them by using in right way....you put garbage in a tool...you get garbage out. Tools are not magic wands. Chevr has bastardized this tool, where people use it as dumpster for everything they do..... people who misuse it ....also bad mouth it later on. Lean Sigma is not taught in any different way here in Chevrthan outside chevr then Why is this not working here...... because we misuse it here.
Lean Sigma's cost saving is fake saving. Take a couple people off the team is the real saving
4 out of 6 Sigma jobs are "closed" positions? That means the company is slashing 1/3 of the 6 positions. How does that bode for other positions in the organization? Is it possible we can expect a maximum reduction of 33% in staff after the DWEP-GOM consolidation?
4 of the 6 sigmas are in closed jobs.
Well said. To answer the question NOTHING, so it is business as usual.
It gets Lean Sigma'ed right out of existence. How's that for a quick savings?
