So many retail stores have shot themselves in the foot so many times by pricing themselves beyond the beyond of what a reasonable price should be for a product. Wal-mart really started killing retail (you wouldn't see it because it was a slow creeping thing) it was then pushed into overdrive by the economic downturn in the early 2000's driven by the idea that "trickle down economics" would bring prosperity back to the US. Communities kept bring Wal-marts in with tax cuts etc. But after a few years if a war-mart saw a better cut a few miles down in another town they would close up and move and leave a huge blight on the neighborhood. It's often what few look at. Regulating their abandonment of a facility needs to be a cost to the company shutting down a location to just open another in the next town. It's disgusting, and very Trumpish.

Unfortunately, when you destroy a industry by your actions as president you can't reverse it because the "universe" has changed to the point that to get the jobs back now would not be the same jobs but jobs replaced with 90% automation.

At a closing Kmart here

Our store manager actually works. When he first got the store we were shocked 1 day when he jumped on the forklift and helped to unload a truck. 1 problem though he is way to nice. There are people that need to be talked to even fired but he won't do it.

Sounds like your store manager, like most, sits in his office, all day, polishing his pipe most of the day. Does he just walk around the store, to let the associates know he still has a job?

Our mall based store had been going downhill for years . When the painted plywood started going over multiple storefronts in the mall, our store manager told us the mall was undergoing massive remodeling.

It's now an empty field.

Freedom is non-existent on the Sears world. Be assimilated or be gone.

I don't think your store manager is trying to hide anything. He/she probably thinks this site will just upset you and truthfully part of the info on this site/comments are just ridiculous.
