Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Mass Exodus

I wonder how many employees have quit but have not left yet? It seems there is absolutely zero sense of loyalty to AAP. You have to believe people will exit in droves once they secure suitable new employment.

It's better to pre-clean out your desk or work area out of personal items just in case. No one is safe and nothing is worse than the walk out. One less humiliating task AAP will put you through on the way out.

If you're asked to attend a meeting soon, be prepared to be laid off.

I remember when the Best Buy leadership came to Roanoke and took down the "The Best Part is our People" sign in the corporate office. It hasnt been the same since, and never will.

Advance Auto Parts has completely lost it's way with regard to employee loyalty since Starboard Value (the hedge fund) decided to take a stake in Advance Auto Parts stock. Starboard is only concerned about how much money they can make short term, since hedge fund companies are notorious for cut and run tactics. I seriously hope Advance shares continue to drop, Starboard jumps ship, and all the over paid execs are terminated. Only then could this company attempt to restructure itself.

There could be loyalty but there is NO loyalty to the employees from Advance. None. Zero. Zilch. Not one shred of loyalty.

Advance refused to deal with turnover which plagues the organization and bleeds money. Turnover costs the company a lot more money than the company cellphones that AAP is now taking away from employees. It truly is comical being on the outside watching and hearing what is going on.

AAP notoriously hires people from the outside rather than reward current employees with promotions. Why would employees be loyal if there is no opportunities for them? Does AAP change that? No. They opt for the quick bandaid that will show minor improvements for Q3, and tank again in Q4 because the path they chose is not a long term solution. I wonder if they will stop purchasing again this year to cut hours in warehouses only to ramp up buying after the 1st of the year costing money in overtime.

Like I said; it's comical.

It's sad. There used to be lots of loyalty to AAP when team members felt like the company cared about them but it's gone now. The change started with the CQ/GPI acquisition and really took hold with the arrival of the Pepsi generation.
