Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears Fine Jewelry NYDD Jewelry

I am a laid-off Sears Employee, Store closed down in March 2917. I would like to know how does the NYDD Diamond Earring look like. I am asking any Fine Jewelry Associates, I would like to purchase a 3/4 cttw, pair on the web, but I would like to know if it is worth it. Total price 1399.99 on sale. Thank You, faithful Sears Employee for 18 years.

Not so much asking on a board where people are losing their jobs. My question is why ask on this board at all? Why not go into a store. Check Amazon, look for reviews, Google it. Next people will be looking to by a used car on here or looking to rent out a room in their home.

What's funny is I don't actually think this person is a troll. They genuinely don't find anything inappropriate about flashing money on a site where everyone is anxious about getting laid off. Insensitivity and ignorance at its finest.

people are losing their jobs, stores are being closed, you worked for sears 18.5 yrs got laid off, don't KNOW anything about their jewelry and you still WANT to spend your money there !!!!!

There are people out in the world that are better able to assist you - they're called psychoanalysts - find a GOOD one

@wai- I don't think that the other post here was in judgment of you. It was a simple reminder that most people on this site, many who make minimum wage, are here because they're worried about layoffs...which is what this board is for. Your situation is obviously different.

I am not trying to be hurt anyone feelings, I just asked a simple questions how is the NYDD Jewelry? I worked for Sears for over 18 1/2 years. If I want to spend my hard earned money from Sears to buy me some jewelry, yes I will. You do not know my story, so please do not jump to your own conclusion. I gave Sears 18 1/2, you do not know what I went through all of those years, different managers, that did nothing. Close one night, open the next morning. Worked my butt off in many different Leads Areas. Faithful all those years. Always tried to do my best. Married for over 34 years, 4 kids went to college, all have their degrees. House paid for. I do not drive new car, car over 10 years old. So please do not judge me. I understand what my associates are feeling across the states. My stores was closed in March 2017. I just happen to receive the pension, and I saved from the 401(k). Thank You to everyone for all of your help. Have a great day and God Bless.

Jewelry has an insanely high markup, additionally the quality of the stones are typically pretty low. I'd recommend a CZ stone earring in good gold which will save you a ton, because they tend to look better and won't cost you a mortgage payment.

Typically the stone that they sell you for $1400 cost then less than $100.

This isn't just a guess, I've worked with the buyplans at corporate.

I buy quite a bit of jewelry from our department, and it is fine. Just remember if you spend less than $200 on something, it really is just nice costume jewelry.

I work in FJ and I don't recommend this purchase. Do not recommend.

We do a brisk repair business which gives me something to do when it's slow. Calling people to come in for pickup, sending out repairs, etc. Most of our jewelry needs repair sooner that you would reasonably expect. Personally I don't think the care plans will be honored into bankruptcy or if they are, it will be extremely difficult to get service.

I feel disloyal saying this but most of our stuff is deficient in quality and breaks or wears out well before it should. Since this is a major purchase, I would not recommend buying from a retailer on shaky ground.

Check out your local reputable jewellers and see what they have. I don't mean the other mall jewellers that have the same low level of quality as Sears. I mean the real guys. Independent shops. Ask around in your area.

OP, whether intentional or not, this post may come across as insensitive to say the least. This board is full of people worried about losing their jobs. Announcing that you can afford a $1400 pair of earrings is a bit "in your face." I'm sure you meant no harm, though. Just an FYI.
