Thread regarding Sears layoffs

If the Kmart stores did not look the way they do, she would not be doing this. It is obvious from the pictures Kmart has some big problems. She isn't making it up. They are actual pictures of Kmart stores and yes I'm sure if she looks hard enough, she will find many of our stores that look like total dumps because that is basically what is left.

I worked for Kmart for over 30 years and I hate to say it but Eddie isn't the reason Kmart has failed. They refused to invest properly in their stores and infrastructure choosing to spend most of their money on acquired companies and neglecting their core business. Now they will pay the ultimate price.

Some of the stores Hayley has profiled look great compared to one in NJ.

The Sears store at Quakerbridge Mall in NJ is sloppy and messy everywhere except for women's wear and Lands End at the lower level mall entrance.

Housewares is barely existent. Half the second floor is merchandise in cartons, like patio sets, cheap recliners and sheds. It is pathetic.

Our stores are fully stocked (not with just mattresses and comforters) and yes we make our sales goals. So not sure which stores she is visiting but, it seems like she goes to the ones that are closing.

@1lgz - Do you realize how ridiculous your claim is? No rational person would believe that the downfall of SHLD is due to five years worth of "hit pieces." The only reason for the downfall of SHLD is Eddie's gross incompetence as our corporate leader.

A lot of these web-based news sites constantly write hit pieces on Sears. Remember, if you are an investor that wants to short the stock and bet it will go down, sponsoring websites or reporters willing to write constant hit pieces in a great way to benefit financially. Most of those stories could have been written in 2013, 2014, 2015, or 2016. Nothing has really changed about the negative coverage, except changes in the stock price which can make some people very rich.

There is really nothing new to see (or read) here.

Miami stores look good because Eddie has a place near there. He wants to show his friends and investors how great the stores look and how many people are shopping there. While the rest of the stores fall apart and are a hazard.

Let's take a poll. How many of your stores are stocked and look nice and bright and clean. And how many of your stores are falling apart with little to no merchandise. And I'm not talking about being full of comforters and mattresses. I mean full of a diversity of goods.

As for Walmart, I worked there in the early 2000's and the reason that they are sometimes a little sloppy and disorganized is that they have customers. We were a small store and did over $20,000 and hour in sales some days. Now the SHC store I work at is lucky to do $20,000 in a good holiday weekend day.

I think the difference is that Walmart is messy Because it has shoppers and makes money, sears/Kmart have no "members" and don't make any money, they are just run down sh!t holes

She is doing her job and she is not making up stories. I am very sorry that her work affects your fantasy that Sears is a great retailer... if you would take off your blindfold you would see that she reports the true state of Sears. What company out there is in as bad of shape as Sears and still pretends like it's going to change? Anyone?

For all you know, she hates her job. She probably has a boss who tells her what to do just like the rest of us. I work at Sears and am doing my job like I'm told to do it, but I'm looking for another job and am excited to leave this one soon. She may feel that way too. Who knows?

Haley is just doing her job. She signed on to make things look horrible for Sears Holdings. She could just as easily ask for a budget to travel and see some of the other stores, but she doesnt. I dont know why anyone ever applauds her for what she is doing, but it is what it is. She is getting paid to do a job....nothing more nothing less. She doesnt care about the associates any more than anyone else.

My sears store in Michigan is fully stocked too! We don't have any areas like those pictures of Kmart recently depicted in yahoo finance.

Our store is clean and our bathrooms are too. It bothers me that they always dog sears/Kmart when there are other retailers with the same problem stores but it goes unreported by the news.

Walmart is a prime example of sloppy stores but you never see pictures of Walmart's messy stores in the news!

I think a lot boils down to the store managers not walking their stores and getting the hot spots straightened!

Anyone ever ask Hayley why she keeps writing these hit pieces over and over again? Who does it benefit? She's definitely not doing us any favors.

I hate stores like that making us all look bad! Come down to Miami! Our stores are full of product and look amazing! They always go to the same few horrible stores in Jersey and Virginia for these hit jobs.

I'm no Sears cheerleader, but no matter what's going on with Sears or any other retailer for that matter, the square footage of these stores reflects an outdated concept. Department stores and big-box retailers just don't need the same kind of space they used to need. To be clear, I don't think this is the issue here. I think if we could afford to fill the stores, they'd be full.
