Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Now, let's sell some switches

OK, if a Lannister cannot help us I am not sure who would be able to...

The hugely talented actor Peter Dinklage, who has spent the past seven years enthralling audiences as Tyrion Lannister, has started a series of videos trying to explain Cisco's "The Network. Intuitive."

The irony of having Tyron Lannister shill for Cisco is just incredible. There are so many parallels between Cisco and Westeros. Littlefingers all over the place, anyone resembling a Stark gets beheaded, stabbed in the heart, or otherwise marginalized at the first opportunity. The director and VP level needs to be carved up and roasted to ash just like Drogon carved up the Lannister army!

This is not good. When companies start paying millions to celebrities to market a product it usually means the product can't sell on its own merit. Who is this and targeting? Users in the age group 20 - 30? Are the people who make the decision on which router or switch to buy in that age group ? Any CxO level executive will see the ad as a gimmick. A more powerful ad would have been one that showed the tangible benefits of the product and not one that gave a high level promise of what could be possible. The time of smoke & mirrors in tech marketing has gone, any one with a decade or more experience in tech, now knows how to read a marketing spin and separate the story from the reality.

"I wish I had a nickel for every network management app through the years that can tell you exactly why the network is broken. I’m sure TAC won’t be out of a job anytime soon. In fact, they may want to start hiring for all the support cases on this new stuff." Me too but didn't you see the awesome comment left on the YT site? TAC need not worry based on the feature request made there. I am sure Chuckambers will look over at one of his stooges after reading it and say "get right on that" like he used to do to make people think he was not such a chomo back in the day. I NEVER like that weasel John T-Rex Chambers.
