SWT attrition in full swing

Here in SWT (Sugar Land), the floodgates for attrition have opened.

There was already a steady stream from last year. But last few weeks have seen a marked increase in people quitting, raising a 'red flag'. As an example, an entire team (except the manager of course) left the same day. This prompted the management (upto N+4 high) to take steps to assuage concerns. Not that any of it is going to work since it'll likely be too little and definitely too late. In fact, the 'roundtables' didn't work as another person put in their notice the very next day.

Any other data points from other places?

This company still has fantastic people within. In my opinion, the problems are becoming more and apparent to come from a "locked" management team. Decision making roles have been given to overly analytical people at the expense of a more adhoc population. The answer is that we need both types in the company but we have too many "process thinkers only" people that want to put color in a spreadsheet. 60% of the management teams reporting to ex presidents and above need to go/transferred. In addition too many at that level have lost faith and have realized that they can only comply (nothing will change) and do not want to challenge the system. We have way too many older guys that can protect their jobs and do the minimum (at VP, and President levels) find a new job, and way too many younger or too younger process driven only that push paper but cannot actually deliver. This is a sclerosis.

I believe PK is trying to eliminate that but generally he gets the opposite effect of what he asked for, which says a lot about his leadership and overall respect from his reports and generally the SLB population.

It seems to me that the people that have passion and the energy simply need to increase their presence by actually displacing the other guys, in by passing the system and showing progress.

If you have no passion, you have no business being in a leader position. And in the past 5 years I have not seen much passion.

@ikq actually in some sense, they were more desperate, to save their careers while they still can. so they made a bold move.

@wlb everyone (except 1) who quit from here moved out of Houston. Remember this is software we're talking about. East/west coast etc. has tons of options, not to mention more money. And all this time I wondered, why are they here to begin with, leaving so much money on the table. Amazingly, the management still doesnt realize this.

I definitely expect more in the coming days. Many of the ones wh--e still here aren't here due to lack of trying, I assure you.

are people actually finding jobs in the Houston mrkt ? Does it require a headhunter to make it happen? This area has had so many layoffs from so many companies?

Offers are starting to roll in. After 3 years with no raises, furloughs where we lost 10%-15% of our salary and managers still called and expected us to work on furlough. Demotions in authority yet held fully accountable by VP and President for their decisions pushed on us. No options, no RSU's. Told we were getting rid of layers of management between field and Presidents and now we have more layers and every layer adds more BS reporting upward with no help for field. On top of that B5&6 saved by pushing them down and firing G12-14 to make room for the big sh--s. E2E round 2 wasting money on a survey that everyone is coached on how to answer so CEO thinks people are happy.

We're all just waiting for that good offer from the headhunter. When it comes we're outta here.

Who cares if people leave, it just leaves more jobs for the rest of us.

Maybe we will get raises this year from all the money they are saving.

Everything is wrong with the way this company is breathing.

Wrong layoff and toxic work environment pushing people out.stupid managers should leave somerthing for competitors to knock out!
