Ridiculous that after 6 call in's for illness you have to get into your car drive to Lowe's and tell them you're sick. I asked my asm "what if you're vomiting?" She said tie a bag around your neck!!! Unacceptable.

Same rules from 17-20 some odd years ago. Different system now for tracking. On the chopping block now..

Half the people they hire don’t know anything anyways. Even sups or managers. You shouldn’t be one then !
They do not care.. They still follow a dinosaur system. They hired me and I could be their ASM or Store Manager and they don’t care.

Went back to take a break from my field and..
Now I got a family. Kids get sick.. People get sick.
They need to get with the times. 7 days are the limit and sick days you use do count against you.

Probably gonna have to go back to my field due to working for a lame loser of company.

I notice if you work part time they turn a bind eye. They want to keep part timers and fire the full timers.

I’ve worked at Lowe’s for one week. I have been left completely alone in my department twice already. Not a good start. I was not trained to be alone and customers have so many questions I cannot answer. Trying to let it all run off my back cause it’s really not my problem, it’s the managers but it’s hard when customers are annoyed with me. Idk how long I’ll last haha.

I had a few doctors appointments for my leg as well with a doctor note. And I got terminated because I was not telling them 3 weeks in advance. Is that right?

We all remember the beginning of COVID. I tried waiting it out to see how the virus was going to take a turn. I’m a single mom of a 3yr old, who lives with her sickly father. I keep a pretty open convo with management in regards to what happens in my life. When things was going south I talked to my supervisor and she said “you should talk to the manager and request for the emergency paid leave” explained it to me and said I definitely qualify. At first I was like “no” because things didn’t seem to bad. So I did I called my store manager on my personal cell.

I wanted to get a doctor opinion and referral on it. Went over to my family doctor and he definitely agreed on it and made me a doctors note. Now in the note it requested that I not be at work for the time being during COVID to insure the safety of my family that I take care for, my father has lupus and diabetes(so no immune system at all) and my son has a really low and weaken immune system. Like I said I’m a single mom and during that time I tried my damned hardest to work when ever I could and try taking extra precautions to be safe avoiding using the emergency leave as much as possible. But when my dad started to worry I knew it was time. I explained to my store manager about my note and asked what the process was. SM told me to just go apply for the emergency paid leave and to forward him the email. So I did, corporate approved and labeled me “high risk”. So I took that time off and quarantine in the house with my family from time start approval.
I called in, of course and told the MOD at that time that I seen I was still scheduled, however I would be considered on the emergency paid leave so I was concerned about them marking me as NCNS. They said “it was normal, they need to do that even for that situation”. So I kinda brushed it off trusting them. Time went on and it was making me worry some to have to keep calling about the Emergency Paid Leave. So I called corporate office and they said the leave was REJECTED by my SM stating he never approved of me putting in for the leave. I went back and forth with Corporate HR explained why I took the leave and I did talk to him but they said “it wouldn’t matter. It’s to the INDIVIDUAL STORE MANAGER’S DISCRETION. Even if CORPORATE approved it, if he denied it then it’s denied. So I called my SM back and asked him. He said I would need to apply for FMLA and do the leave with no pay...I explained to him that I was a single mom and live off pay check to paycheck from work and the only reason I was out was cause of COVID which I thought was what the emergency leave corporate approved as high risk was for. And he just went on about how I didn’t qualify and need to file FMLA no pay or return to work. So guess what I did? I went back. Cause I can’t afford no pay AT ALL.
Now I’m working and all this COVID thing is going haywire and was stated to employees if we are sick with X symptoms to stay home. Now I my self have heart problems and low immune system. And tend to get sick easy. Which ended up happening and cause I’m a sick single mom. Baby ends up getting sick too. Which resulted in me having to call out while I was sick and call out occasionally to tend to my sick son.
Explaining all this to management for nothing. THEY DO NOT CARE. They make like they understand and then SCREW YOU OVER. They said “I need to tend to myself and my son” which I did but you know what they did. They made the time for the COVID and time I was sick and my son was sick and turned it into 2 different write ups.
Time goes on and my son gets sick again. He was having trouble breathing and had to get taken into the ER. Got sent home from ER with son having to use Mask machine to help with opening lungs cause of some type of infection he had making all the mucus clog up his air way. I called out 2 days to tend to son. Few days after incident I was written up for the 3rd time. Placing me on final.

Time goes on and I end up getting hurt from work and, god that’s a whole other headache...(long story short MOD that night told me to just go home ice it.Even after I explained my injury and asked to file report she kept insisting for me to go home and let morning MOD know if I still hurt. She told me “I’m busy getting customer’s out and closing the store so. I don’t have to get it right now.” So I asked if I would be penalized for not doing report. She told me I wouldn’t and I could just let morning MOD know if anything. I Woke with stiff neck and right shoulder area. Morning MOD was confused as to why I never made report so he made me come in to make one. Yeah and I really had to push for process my self.) Anyway few weeks out from that I had my doctor follow up for worker comp and on that day my son woke up really sick again. I had to take him into ER yet again and rescheduled my follow up. Son needed to take COVID test and all. Called store and explained about how my baby was sick and I needed to take him to the ER. I called the store and told MOD I was told I could come in later because of my follow up(that I failed) and my manager would NOT work with me to have the day off and reschedule me to work on one of my other days off.
I thought everything was okay. Come a month after said incident and I get called into office first time claiming “NCNS possible termination” but I had proof I called. They let me go but had me working a bunch of tasks for a corporate walk and the. Once tasks was done and everything was good maybe a week later I get called in again. This time they said “because I called out anyway in that day while on final I was terminated”

I was so mad I just sat there processing and just quiet. Manager asked if I had comments to which I said “I have nothing to say really.. I told you guys I had to tend to my son we had to go ER. But a doctors note isn’t even valid to you guys...her response was “it must be really hard being a single mom. Damn...”

I haven’t passed my workers comp and have to apply to a lot of places to just try to work...I never called out prior to COVID and I bussed my a– for them with all their projects and customer issues. Even covering departments because “short staffing”.
That company is something else..

I had a mental health issue and wasn’t able to do much of anything for days and I haven’t been able to call in for the last 6 days.

I feel like I’m fired already and I just started in December

was fired yesterday because I had to call out because kid was barred from 7th grade quarantine for 14 days due to Covid concerns, single parent, zero choice. Prior call out was August 23, manager called this excessive and reason for termination, took 1 minute and was escorted out the door. Called Lowes HR, they are "investigating" as this is clearly against Lowes policy. Regardless, happy to be out of Lowes nightmare. Collect unemployment? Plan on wrongful termination lawsuit just for fun.

My store manager is really good most our managers are. We are Lowes of mountain home AR I've never called in and work hard play hard. The people with needs where I work usually get what they need, only complaint is that there's been days I've worked alone in a very big department... And I mean had a lot of work to do, an still had to help other departments an next day our ASM says "our numbers were great yesterday" like screw you. But naw put in what you take out. This world is short term.

1 day off after working 6 days. . .I had to work 7 days in a row to get 1 day off. I was the only one that had to work the 7 days. Of course they were discriminating against me for my disability and accommodations I had. Lowe's is a terrible place to work! The managers don't care about safety issues you complain about. He didn't want to hear it, cause he didn't care. All's they care about is the almighty dollar, corporate America is horrible.

The new schedule Kronos s---s. One day off work 6 more then one day off. People can not go out of town relax on their days off anymore. You spend that day doing laundry cleaning. And you are exhausted. We are losing lots of good employees who need those days to rest some with medical problems that need 2 days of rest. Also closing store then turning around and opening store next day not good. I drive almost an hr from my store I get about 5 hrs sleep then have to drive back for sometimes a 9 hr shift. Then 6 days straight no day off. Sad good people are gonna leave.

Same. I had a coworker termed for a no call no show while she was on her honeymoon in Mexico because someone changed her schedule to cover an open shift. None of the managers noticed the approved vacation time on her schedule.

Since we haven’t had an HR in over a year, she called the Market Director. Needless to say, my SM was completely embarrassed about his managers having no clue how to read their own scheduling software, or even know their associate was on her honeymoon. She got rehired but moved to a different store. Which s---s for us because she was really good.

I've noticed an increase in reports of management going downhill. At my location, multiple managers have started changing everyone's (Not just a couple) schedule without notifying them. I saw someone get terminated due to showing up to a shift "Late" although they had their printed schedule. I, luckily, have made good friends with a manager who has started to notice this rising trend and is very supportive. Remember, when its not their money they don't care!

I keep getting mixed information from HR regarding the new attendance policy, both verbal and written. My billion dollar question is; can I ever leave early when I finish stocking my aisles without this being considered and counted as excessive??

We had a annual meeting and it was just mentioned that the policy would be changed. Not one specific thing has been stated; no paperwork to sign or anything... how stupid is this? They tell you it will be enforced in Oct and then they don't even let you know the details... never heard of a store doing this at all; ever. Good luck everyone!

I wonder whats going to happen at my store with this. They (managers) are constantly changing schedules and not telling associates. Show up when you are supposed to work and find out you are too early or hours late. We've taken to printing out out schedules and keeping them in a safe place.

This is what most non retail establishments use as far as excessive call outs and late Times. The fact that Drs note won't matter depends on the state you work in. Lowes is struggling and they are nervous most big box are not having a great return on investment and HD is still eating their lunch. My store has gone beyond the bottom of the barel messy, associates who don't care and a SM who is absent from the floor but great at discouraging emails. The fish stinks from the head down and associates are not the blame for the lack of standards. It is the corporate monkeys who have missed the mark . Also this new xpo crap will lose the co many more SATISFIED CUSTOMERS, but hey there is always someone else we can piss off who comes through the doors. Once happy but now miserable lowes employee. What's the stock at????????? Not all of your employees come from high school some of us went to business school oh and college..... not many SM can state that. Just saying...........!

Good job folks
