Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's laying off 100 in merchandising operations

More layoffs have been announced, this time in merchandising operations. Well, let me rephrase that, not layoffs, restructuring. It's their favorite new word for when they want to cut people without actually outright saying layoffs. Numbers are indicating that around 100 people will lose their jobs.

They just notified the directors and planners. This isn't going good and it has been really stressful. If you can get out I would go as soon as possible. This will not be the end of the "restructuring"

I've never seen so many sales supervisors take over Macy's ,no clue ,no training , don't no anything just walk around thinking they are somebody for real....store management and assistants store managers have no people skills No Hi...No good morning they want us to be magical which we are but they hire peeps with no experience what so ever they don't want to be here. If they are men Managers they walk around flirting with the young ladies ,only a hand full of management do it the right way w giving great customer service ....what the hell is going on its not the same Macy's I've been with the company over 25 yrs they want us associates to do the BEST which Are old school ...Management do not do what they preach .... We have a department manager who walks around like a correctional officer for real....not surprised upon get what you hire.... What's going on with new dress code ...looks like employees are going to beach ,part etc see store manager walking around in FLIPFLOPS you for real !!!!!!! What kind of example are is that 😏Hmmmm

And hiring Hal Lawton like he's gonna change anything - he's built a glorified Home Depot website - OK, so what. After that a very short stint at eBay and now the guy is a miracle maker for us... Watch him drain a few million and depart in 2 years again...

Meanwhile, Amazon continues to obliterate pretty much anyone while wreaking havoc on the whole economy.

4 more years to retirement, cannot wait to be frank - things are really bad...

It's upper management right now. See macys news on LinkedIn. I don't think it's store level Mtm's. 'LinkedIn said the 100 cut positions would cost 25 million but would save 35 million per year... store level mtm's don't make that kind of money. So that leads me to believe it's higher management. It also makes sense about the announcements of people shifting jobs in the highest positions over the last few days and the delays about who are leaving.
