Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Will WM be around for another 20 years?

This subject has been touched on from time to time, but does anyone believe that WM will not be around in 15-20 years?

Yes Walmart will still be there. The country still needs place where they can go to b--ch at someone. They still need a place where they can shop without washing first and wearing their dirty pj's. They still be a place where they can sh-- but not flush or maybe spread it on the walls. They still need a place to steal stuff from. They still need a place to get into a screaming match with another customer while riding around in a electric cart cause their too obese and lazy to walk. They still need a place to walk their "therapy dog" cause their life is so hard. They need a place to take their kids cause, you know, the park is too far away. Kids need a place to go in the day when they are skipping school so they can ride bikes, skateboards, and buggies through the store before they go over to the toilet paper aisle to build forts. They need a place to go and sit in a chair in furniture and spend an hour or two on their phone. They need a place to beg for money. They need a place to read magazines. A place to shop for meat but change their mind and shove it under the underwear. And they need a place to leave Grandma in a wheelchair to fend for herself cause "we'll be back in a couple of hours ".

Why did Ringling Brothers go under? Who need circus when we have Walmart.

Maybe the stores will be there but there will be zero associates in them. The stores will be cashless. Everything automatically charged to your phone. The stores will be stocked overnight with drones.

This leads to an interesting question. Every time the company need to cut costs to protect the bottom line they fire associates. What will they do once there is no one left to give the boot?

I think we will - we have enough clout and internal talent to survive - I think there is a few things that we do better than others and that we correctly keep pushing the digital agenda.

Granted, things will change and we may be losing market-share - however, in terms of existence we will be around and we will still be big.

Just my two cents....

Now, talking 40 years from now, that's a different story as every decade brings a brand new set of challenges - god knows what we'll have to overcome by 2057
