I was in accounting at the store support center in Roanoke for 5 years. In those 5 years, despite excellent performance reviews and completing my bachelor's degree in accounting, I was offered zero chance for advancement and only received about a 1% increase each year. The computer systems that are used for AP and Inventory are a joke, that technology is probably older than I am.
A few years ago when Norfolk and Southern announced they were closing the Roanoke office, suddenly the company had all these openings in accounting and middle management positions for the former railroad employees but nothing available for current employees.
I at the end of February and sold my stock when it was still in the $140s. Man am I glad I got out when I did!
