Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How does grade changes work?

Is it solely upon my immediate manager to decide? Or does it involve director? other managers under my director?

Do salary hikes follow same process like grades?

G10 and above are, my vote, too dangerous if a non-politically motivated individual contributor.

Stay under G10, max out your 401k and ESPP. Live somewhat frugally and save up at least a year's worth of living expenses. Try to survive for a decade.

If you can do the above and you are LR'd; you'll be in great shape for your next chapter of life.

Don't waste your bonuses on BMWs and Audis...save your money for life after LR.

upto G10 is good to survive in Cisco. G11 and above will tough to survive in Cisco. Its not even worth going there because you will get laid off easily. if you want more money, you can move to a different company where they dont lay off just because you are on higher grade or above 50+ yrs or white male.

why are you asking in a public forum ? The higher the grade the higher the chance of being let go.
