Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Consolidation layoffs

Anybody knows if Viptela acquisition will result in layoffs of any of the Cisco staff? Usually there is at least some pruning during consolidation. The entire Viptela team will join Cisco's Enterprise Routing team, so I wonder if that will have any effect on our people.

I'm one of the Viptela members acquired by CSCO. It does not look good here at CSCO. Looking to jump ship as soon as my bonus from Viptela is paid at the end of September.

1obx - the problem is that is the attitude this leadership has about layoffs. "So what?"

Stop being solely a vc - buying and purging. Lead a technology company and makes some actual innovation happen. Why any engineer would want to work there is beyond me.

If there are any layoffs, they should affect Enterprise SDN teams only. So what.

As long as this style of lazy, no internal innovation management "leadership" continues there will always be layoffs after an acquisition. So yes there will be "consolidation" layoffs at some point. It may not be right away but it will happen sometime in the next 18 months.

100% it will happen, it's just a matter of time.

At Cisco, acquisitions always result in layoffs. Maybe not immediately......but it always happens 100%.

Given time, of course it will. And generally, if you're on the routing team your at risk. Just take a look at the deteriorating market share data for these "core" products. If you have core competency in that space, you should investigate those trends and companies that are eating Cisco's lunch, identify any friends and family you might have working there, dust off the resume and give it a go!
