I was laid off as well but the store kept one department manager. So it wasn't all department managers after all. How the decision came from choosing who stays and goes? Especially when one works harder than the other. I guess being lazy pays off - this is a bad example for all people at the company - no meritocracy really s---s.

My paper kept two ages 38 and 35 but some that were let go were younger.
So how they decided who to let go was they had the District Mgrs get with HR and create a list of Dept Mgrs deemed career Dept mgrs and submit it to the directors of HR and RVP's. If not enough names on the list they were told to add more. FYI, the Department Mgrs that were not let go will be expected to replace the current key holders that are on the "poor performer" list.
More managers to be eliminated soon.
I was wondering the same thing how did they decide I was released today ..very upset
I had a paper stated exhibit A, at the end of my severance paper and it had Department manager Age 45 is to be selected for separation, and department manager Age 30,35,and 40 where not. I don't know if you fall in that category, but that's age discrimination.
