Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Bad for Sideny

People of Sidney might look at this as a positive (maybe the sale won't go through) but I assure you this will make the death of Sidney slower and more painful. The real estate market will be frozen for years and years. The black cloud will never lift if a fatally injured Cabela's limps on. The job cuts will be severe without the generous severance checks. There will be no new business to buy corporate and start fresh and breathe life and hope back into the town.

As one poster said it ...sometimes it's better to rip off the band aid.

I do not agree I think a betting man would have to bet the best hope for Sidney is if the sale does not go thru. I base this opinion a lot on most of the post on this very site of the effect of a buy out by bass pro would have on the town of Sidney. Most of the time these post were made without any argument from anyone but myself

I agree there has been a dark cloud over this community for quite some time, soon those clouds will tun into a raging temptest, The depth of the destructiive power of this impending storm will be determined soon very soon.

If the buy out fails, it will take a very long time before Sidney recovers if at all. It is very important that this sale go through for, take it for what it is worth, those left behind.

The magnifecent seven have made their money and are financally secure in thier futures. They care very little for those who will be left behind to sift through the ruble and attempt to rebuild thier lives from the ashes.

So many have left already, cabelas employees have moved on to more secure futures, Small business have closed and relocated to other venues in hopes to make a living. Other small business closed and the owners sought employment elsewhere to provide for thier future.

Either way the die is cast and the future has been decided fo us by those in positions of power and authority who utlized thier influence and postions to secure financal security for themselves with no thought to those who helped provide that future and security for them.

I have called this town home for the majority of my life, and now contemplating relocation myself.

The future is NOT GOOD for our once wonderful community, no matter the outcome

Hate to tell you this, but Sidney has had a "black cloud" hanging over it for decades. I grew up here, I know. We all better hope & pray the merger goes through. Is Tommy a bottom feeding parasite? Yes, absolutely. He will get his due reward some day.

The truth, if the sale of Cabela's does not go through, Cabelas will fail and do so quickly. Assets will be sold off and there will be no jobs, no name, nothing. Tommy and his crew took thier eyes off the ball, it is very likely this willl implode although Sidney is not doomed. One thing is for sure, Tommy and his band of thieves will not be rewarded.

If the sale does not go through, if the stock drops twenty dollars a share and if the magnificent seven do not get bonuses tied to the sale of company. That possibly could be a poetic taste of reality of what the rest of us are going through.
