Completely wrong direction

Personally, I think its a damn shame CQ was bought by AAP. I was a service manager for a few shops and my 1st call was CQ. Then AutoZone, never AAP. Now I work for these butt heads and it is pathetic to see that they took a commercial goaled company, shredded the crap out of it and removed ALL the parts that matter. How many damn car wash liquids do people really need, they can go by that crap at Wal-Mart. But all we ever hear is commercial, commercial, commercial is a the goal. How the heck are we supposed to sell to repair facilities if we don't carry what they truly need. PATHETIC

Agree completely, @Os06iHS-7rmu. There is no way this direction will do anything for the company but further bring it down.

AAP isn't recognized by fleets and industrial automotive or government shops as a commercial vendor for good reason.

The quality and inconsistency of brands they go to market with.

The inconsistency of service.

Low inventory quantity in stores

No long term relationship investment in commercial shops.

No knowledge of commercial customers business practices.

And the list goes on.

At this time most of what is considered to be true commercial business is moving to the only supplier left in the commercial business and that would be Napa!

While I agree that Ind Stores won't put up with that, they represent less than 2% of sales for the company. so understand why AAP doesn't and really shouldn't care.

I say this as a family member of CQ managers, CQ's first store actually, and I can say with absolute confidence that CQ was a poorly run company from an operations perspective. However, AAP didn't put anything in place to make it an easy transition after the integration. AAP would have been better off getting rid of all the CQ VP's, Directors, Executives and kept everything in Roanoke instead of moving to Raleigh or they could have just left CQ run as a subsidiary and kept each separate.

I don't blame TG for trying to right this ship, which everyone at AAP desires, but it is part of the business cycle and the decline of AAP and other retailers is just another transformation of this economy. Trying to obtain market share via acquisitions is not the best strategy and screams of desperation. DJ screwed the pooch and I am sure it won't be acknowledged until AAP is sold and a MBA candidate does their research on this once proud company. Good luck everyone.

Advance has been trying to penetrate the commercial side for decades and thought buying CQ was an easy way to accomplish that, " WRONG " considering all the talking heads in management having no idea how commercial is handled they figures they would treat other business owners as crappy as they treat their employees and retail customers. Sorry high up moron management, Independent shops will not put up with being treated like crap. Advance Auto Parts is a bottom of the barrel retailer and your commercial accounts see this.
