Bed Bath & Beyond Department managers are being laid off today (Thursday 8/3/17)... Severance package offered, paperwork needs to be signed. We kind of knew this was coming (and some posts were indicating it here on layoffs.com) but people were not aware it'll be this massive.
This is just a beginning - there will be more cuts coming - things are bad.
Daughter got the ax this morning after 16 years. Had no idea this was happening. It really s---s!!!
My mother was laid off this morning. She worked so hard for BB&B to just be layed off. Extremely disappointed with this company for just laying off department managers just like that. So many people lost their job today, it is beyond ridiculous.
I only had 5 years in. Those 5 years probably took 5 years off my life with as hard as I worked everyday. Heartbroken today...will move forward tomorrow
I'm glad I got out when I did, but my best friend is now without a job. It seems awfully suspicious that they are getting rid of the longest tenured, most experienced of their management. These people were dedicated to their jobs and were told that their position was being fazed out but they would still have their jobs. That company treats their employees horrendously. 900+ people are now looking for a new job. Appalling!
Darn shame all these people getting the axe, meanwhile DM and District staff live meagerlessly and float on by with no repricussions of their actions while adept. mgrs. killed themselves for this company!
I was layed off today at a Southern California store! Store is an A++ and comping in sales BUT was let go even though my department was UP in sales!

I noticed a lot of Dept Managers around me were getting promoted after 5, 6, 7, 10 years of being Dept Managers. That was suspect. Then got laid off today after I was told to train my Front End Lead to do cashier training so I wouldn't have to anymore. Really? This is evil.

Ya after 15 years me and at yeast one other manager at 28 years layer off today in my store. Interesting all the managers in my district over the age of 53 were let go. So whey let go- 55, 62,61, 62,60, 65, 63, 58, ages of those managers let go and btw it's a cappy severance package
I was told the severance pkg is 1 paid week for every year you worked. But I don't know for sure.

21 years and now a lot of tears. Having to tell my family that I was thrown out like was hard.
Complete B.S. going on in this country! I was stripped over 50 % of my benefits, including a frozen pension at Honeywell after 10 years (I quit and went elsewhere) & now my wife is let go, for no reason, as a manager after 15 years of service. CORPORATE GREED NEEDS TO BE REELED THE F IN!

Yesterday a bunch of employees noticed a deposit into their accounts and when they questioned why they got money, no one including district staff would tell them why. These people have worked for the company for up to 20 years and had to go home to tell their families they don't know if they will have a job anymore. Everyone was absolutely devastated. Terrible way of going about everything BBB.

Almost 3 years Dept. Managers went from coefficient to hourly...1.5 years ago the Dept. Managers position was eliminated. They said we could step down to be a 40hr per week Sup. If we choose too but that the current Dept. Managers would be grandfathered in...I left about a year ago now...but to all those who stayed and didn't see the writing on the wall...shame on you.
Yep. Can I tell you how shotty it feels to go into work this morning, and be told i have no job? After 19 years? I knew things were bad but there was no store level indicators that it was THIS bad.

At least u got severance packages. in the go around in 2009 -2010 They went after dept mgrs with bogus write ups & terminations around 1800 lost their jobs then and got nothing.

It's 900 jobs affected. There is really no longer a need for department managers or some assistances in small volume stores. This unfortunately needed to happen. I feel bad for anyone who loses a job but at least they care enough to give us a decent severance package with health care help and job placement help. A lot of companies wouldn't do the same.

900 department layoffs and 200 corporate job layoffs. Potential sale of company? Closing of stores. There is more to come. If you were one of the 1100 to lose your job today, you got a severance equal to the number of years you worked there. There is more bad coming down the ladder from corporate...that is all I can say...
yeah I was employed for 17 years. I knew we where in trouble but didn't see this coming. A lot of associates are in tears. Company won't be the same.
