Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Longtime outfitters: anyone feel like this is all you know? Anxiety regarding layoffs, jobsearch...

Love for outdoor recreation brought us here and gave us an opportunity - some of which have remained in the stores 7+ years. Am I the only one feeling incompetent for an upcoming job search? Regret for showing the company loyalty? Anxious about my skills and how they'll be perceived or valued in an application elsewhere? It's not like we're able to save much. Feeling stupid for the time I've put in. Major anxiety, etc. Anyone else?

Let Cabela's lay you off collect unemployment and severance pay. Go back to school find a new job. My only advice to you is to stay out of retail. The grass is definitely greener on the other side believe me. This is only a retail store don't let it ruin your life.

Have faith. Most people on the outside honestly don't know what a train wreck it has been internally sine Tom came on board. Go forward and improve your life. It won't take much. I would not wait

Working for a company for 7+ years shows loyalty- companies like that. People also won't question why you're looking if they know the history of what is going on. Your retail skills are transferable. Don't sell yourself short. Dust off you resume, create or update your LinkedIn account. Reach out for help and let everyone know you're looking. If you don't feel confident, fair it til you make it. Hindsight is 20/20. Let yourself feel stupid and anxious, but not for forever. There's a good chance the future will be brighter on the other side.

Feeling the same. 20+ years at Corp. It was a wonderful company while D--k and Jim ran it. I guess "all good things, must come to an end". I redid my resume months ago, would have assumed most employees did.
