Guys, they have cut corporate positions......and there are continued positions that aren't filled. I am by no means justifying what is happening in the stores, but as stores are closed they cut the corporate jobs at the same time. We just have far fewer positions than in the stores. I am not exaggerating when I say our department in total is probably half the size it was 4-5 years ago. We have kept up with the cuts, and I am sure as more stores are closed, they will continue to consolidate our positions too. It is not a good situation, but it is to be expected until they get down to the corporate structure and amount of stores they really want to have.

Upper management will never make cuts to their divisions because they need people working under them doing something (mostly nothing or at most redundant with three other people) to justify their existance. If they start cutting corporate positions (most which are just regular people working just like the store level people) then they would eventually have no reason to be employyed.

I still don't understand the top management being affordable with a company that's failing. I think these cuts shd start at the very top, if not their job then reduce their overrated pay !

Translation - We, the upper management of SHLD, having made a stinking hot mess of this company, will now explain how you, the associates, will pay the price for our incompetence.
