I seen and heard receiving lead positions are being eliminated. Any idea of what other positions are being eliminated ??

Mostly companies give severance to keep a good reputation in the business community. This helps to recruit other management to the company in the future. When a store closes severance is given to keep the management in place until the end. If they did not give severance then everyone would just leave and then the store would be without workers and the liquidator would have to hire temps.
But there is not law or requirement that a company give any severance and they can stop giving it at any time. If there is BK they will probably still give severance to the manager and maybe ASM to keep them around until the end, but everyone else would probably get nothing.
Buyouts would only make sense if they are not going bankrupt. Why buy someone out when you are closing the doors soon? File BK and let the courts and government deal with it.
Correct. But if the hourly position is taken then expect a pay cut... one of my ASMs lost 10,000 on the switch when it was all said and done.
Now don't quote me but I believe I have read on this sight that its possible that the ASM title will be eliminated and change to a supervisor position, and that will be an hourly job which equals a possible severance because you have to accept the position if you want to stay on at sears as hourly if not your being eliminated
"Any idea of what other positions are being eliminated ??" How about ALL positions.
its funny reading the post that are dogging anyone looking forward to getting out of retail ... sears in general ... they must be store managers sitting in their offices watching these boards and not helping out with manager calls and call for ringing assistance.
someone that has been with the company for 40 years and is looking forward to getting their pension, now possible that the get pennies on a dollar on their pension then go fly a kite Mr. store manager
no more need for receiving leads if no more merchandise is coming.
the first to get cash is employees for contractual monies owed before anyone else. Unless you have a specific contract calling for severance after BK you will get no severance. Tey can change severence policy at any time
People keep focusing on severance and buy outs. There is no law or regulation that mandates Sears has to give severance or buyouts. Sears can refuse to give severance or buyouts anytime it wants to and there is nothing we can do about it. If I get one I will welcome it and be as happy as a clam but I'm not counting on it or expecting it. If an opportunity for employment presents itself to me I'm not going to let a potential severance or buyout stand in the way.
Probably a reason why they are in trouble if they employ managers like you, obviously you lack the ambition and drive to make it in the real world. Good luck moving on@sears asm
Which ASMs? They just did a layoff a couple weeks ago... I would think Market leaders would be next
Correct but the difference would be if i get a severance package now and it only lasts a month its better then staying here and busting my butt then get nothing
You do understand that if something happens to Sears, it will be very hard to continue to get your severance pay? I don't know this to be a fact, but I have heard you no longer get a "lump sum." You get paid each week/two weeks for a certain number of weeks. If something happens with Sears during that time frame, you are put in a tough position as all the financials need to be worked out before you can continue to be paid.
Im a Sears asm i hope its my position so i can get my severance before sears goes belly up
