Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

GE to FieldCore

GE is moving the Field Service and O&M teams to FieldCore, a company with 250+ years combined experience who only have a dozen people employed so far....

The idea is to move Granite, Legacy Alstom Field Services/O&M and GE into this organization. Has any one heard what the conditions will be?

Washington D.C., April 12, 2018 —

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced a whistleblower award of more than $2.1 million to a former company insider whose information led to multiple successful enforcement actions. The whistleblower’s information strongly supported the findings in the underlying actions and the whistleblower provided ongoing assistance to the staff during the investigation.

I have been hearing only bad things regarding the "greatest thing since sliced bread" that is Fieldcore. It seems like they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Our group isn't "transferring" to Fieldcore until 2018, and we talk amongst ourselves and the feeling right now isn't good.

Personally just waiting for the severance package then go somewhere else that appreciates my work ethic.

Nothing is changing in Europe because it would be illegal under EU law to screw the employees, in this manner.

I've been sent some Q&A from Europe and seems that the model there will be different, they'll keep everything as it is (minus share plans).

So really unfair for us US guys.

Conditions for GE and their customer will be terrible come this fall. They won't be able to staff outages. We FE's won't accept 40% cut in pay, frozen pension, loss of major benefits. No more paid holiday, vac, personal business, or sick days. It is despicable what they have done. They want us to work to 1650 house at staight time rate (annual salary/2080) and then get (annual/1650). We're a very large band of brothers and we talk privately. Several hundred of us are done with this company and are going elsewhere. We have enough money to take some time off plus a "severance" they are providing to fund us as we go to customers and competitors to work. GE's customers are going to be irate. Maybe there will be enough cause for some of the service agreements to default.
