Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Is the sale dead yet?

I can't take how we are forced to enroll students to this fake school. These poor people have no clue how they are being raped of their hard earned money. I want out. I wonder how long after they cancel the sale it's going to take to close the doors of EDMC?

8ccl, this is 4knd, and I couldn't agree with you more! It's more than creepy, it's deeply unethical. That's why I wrote that post. Here's the name of the game in Admissions, get as many students as you can and once they are accepted, DO NOT LOSE THEM. There are weekly meetings surrounding how solid each student is running up to any start date. You are supposed to do certain things to keep them "solid" like rush them through the financial aid process, the same day they apply ideally, call them weekly, invite them to retention events on campus, get to know their "buying committee," etc. You have no idea how creepy it is!

@O7VwX5e-4knd

You are seriously creepy.

"do not allow the students you have on your books to cancel"

We should have the option to do whatever is best for us. You should not be allowed to dictate what we can do. We should be treated with respect. We are not your livestock to mind control. What world are you living in to treat another human being that way?

Please, if anyone is listening, I need your help.

You see while I was visiting my dear friend former EDMC spokesman CH, I was erroneously mistaken for one of the inmates.

If anyone reads this please convince them that this straight jacket is no longer necessary.

Your friend and leader.

Many schools are gearing up for starts. Students are ready to learn. We need to anticipate needs where we can, and we need to respond when we see a need. Doing the right thing by our students has seen us through to this point, and it’s the right thing to do going forward.

The way I interpret this is that the sale is contingent upon start numbers and student enrollment. If you are an ADA, do not allow the students you have on your books to cancel. Do whatever you need to do to get them to start. The "doing the right thing" propaganda is designed to keep you from listening to your conscious as it always has been, the "Mark" part is designed to foster the illusion of closeness, like, hey, it's your buddy Mark, and we all want the same things for these students, to do right by them, because we're such good people.

This sounds desperate to me. It sounds like the Dream Foundation sale has serious issues and if it falls through, EDMC can no longer go on.

Mark sounds like Enron founder Ken Lay when an employee asked him if he was on crack.

Talk about out of touch with reality.

It's scary to say the least. Good luck fellow minions your leader has no clothes.

"I believe the future for our students and schools is brighter than ever before." The only thing that would make these students' futures brighter is if the EDMC would close for good, close down their schools, and abolish their predatory loans they've stuck thousands of students with along with poor educations and NO CHANCE of a future. Students should not be a form of income for anyone in this country. Student should be able to enter the world without debt and the ability to make money and survive.

"Several schools, including the HLC-accredited schools, are on pace to close in late December"

Interesting wording.

Same bull with everyone there. Just enough info to shut you up and tell you keep recruiting. I'm not helping another student let them fire me. They never can give a straight answer. He taught all the mangers to act the same way.

He said the end of fiscal year is quickly approaching. Wasn't the new year July 1st? Did he write this last week or lose track of the date?

According to the CEO things are "largely on track" snicker

Good Morning,

We continue making progress towards closing the sale of substantially all of EDMC's assets to the Dream Center Foundation. We remain largely on pace to complete the sale and transition operations within our expected timeframe of sometime late this summer. Several schools, including the HLC-accredited schools, are on pace to close in late December.

While we’re largely on track, we are not done yet.

When we announced the agreement in March, we knew we would encounter hiccups and bumps in the road, and we have not been disappointed. Due to the hard work and diligence of many of you, your peers and your leaders, we have navigated through those challenges and are prepared to meet others that may yet arise. The great news is: Forward progress continues.

The Dream Center Foundation remains enthusiastic about this deal. As I talk with them about the strengths of the organization, they share developing ideas and plans for the future. And while DCF will undoubtedly share those with all of you when the deal closes later this summer, I believe the future for our students and schools is brighter than ever before.

For now, we all have an immediate role to play in helping move our organization and institutions forward. The end of the fiscal year is quickly approaching. Many schools are gearing up for starts. Students are ready to learn. We need to anticipate needs where we can, and we need to respond when we see a need. Doing the right thing by our students has seen us through to this point, and it’s the right thing to do going forward.

Thank all of you for your hard work on behalf of our students and EDMC. The transition still has a way to go, and it is imperative that we continue our hard work to ensure the successful culmination of the planned sale.

Best Regards,

Mark

EDMC President and Chief Executive Officer
