Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

@O5SlHSp-bmw Your Treatment Shouldn't be News Worthy

I am glad things are good for you. They were for me for many years until the 1:1 meeting popped up. See how you feel about all of this when you are 50+ and get walked out the door. Look around and see how many 50+ people are in IC positions.

Personally I do not feel my age is an issue. I just don't see it. Maybe in the States. But where I am I can put my hand on my heart and say I do not believe your card is marked because you hit 50.

Now if you hit 50 and don't have the same skill set as someone younger or the skill set required by the company has changed then that is not an age issue. Its a training issue. Then you have further questions. Who is responsible for ensuring you have the skills required of Cisco? You or Cisco?

Of course you might be let go because your CR is high compared to your peers. Given the lack of pay rises at Cisco its more likely someone who has been with the company years has a lower CR than some new hotshot that has demanded a higher salary.

I think LR is based on value add and that is down to attitude and skills and that's not an age issue.

Just my take on it.

More ridicule please.

O6vtrpc, I don't fully understand your need to open a whole new thread just to post a response to someone's reply post, but it doesn't really matter, it's a free world.

To make this whole thing easy to follow, here is a copy of a post that you are referring to:

Obviously you will hate what I have to say but I'm paid competitively, I have a great work / life balance, the company benefits are brilliant. I have good managers, I'm late 40s and don't feel my age is a threat to my career and I enjoy what I do. I'm treated with respect by my peers.

All said and done I could name lots of companies that are far worse than Cisco. I'm really not surprised Glassdoor and Best Place to Work rate Cisco highly.

I realize this answer to your post will get ridiculed but really what do people want from a job? Job security is a thing of the past with every company. We should make the best of what we have rather than waste all our energies moaning.

Let the ridicule and general draining begin....
