Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Mandatory meeting Thursday

My store is in the Northeast, and there has been a mandatory store manager meeting scheduled for Thursday. Speculation that Friday will be another round of layoffs.

If your store has 2 asms, talk has been you will be losing one of them. Determination on which one is how they are graded in their 9 box, whoever has graded higher stays.

Also, if you still have a footwear lead, there is a possibility you will not any longer.

If your store has a receiving lead, they are on the "speculated" list. Simple store process is an indicator of said assumption. In reality, any associate can check in a vendor or receive the truck.

Front end leads may possibly be let go as well, many stores can and do run without them.

Talk of HR as week, although I do not think mine will be affected in my particular location.

If you still have softlines leads (men's, ladies), they may be affected. Look at the % of sales, if it's low in its contribution you may be losing those as well.

Obviously, each store will be affected differently.

FYI, the writing is there- you just have to pay attention.

I would strongly suggest that if "you" make it past the cuts to begin finding employment elsewhere. It really is only a matter of time until the end.

I'm in Ohio, and there has been discussion of a manager conference call. The store manager thinks it will just be about the blowout sale that's starting on June 9.

My store is down to one ASM, and three key-carrying supervisors who can close the store. The only lead we have left is data.

I was playing around on OWB and the Kmart Retail Services website. Seems strange that the monthly planner is blank past June, and the only brochures available are for BTS

We've been without most of those positions for the better part of a year now. They were mostly replaced with people being paid only slightly above minimum wage and whose competence reflects their compensation. Vendor invoices and DSD paperwork are routinely lost. The 605 area is inundated with broken merchandise that could probably fill at least a hundred K-4 repack boxes, much of it having sat there since the previous 605 associate was canned. We are so hard up for service desk associates that brand new associates who haven't even done any computer-based training are just thrown up there with someone showing them what to do for an hour and then being left on their own. The turnover is understandably high.

Perhaps just the north east region at this point in time.

Many stores have been operating without BRL, nine does, and it is safe to say if your store currently has that position it will eventually be eliminated. Simple store means everything to salesfloor, what is the point of a BRL.

No word on resets, data, claims or 605.

I personally feel that BK is being avoided at any risk possible. Eliminating positions, cutting payroll, blowout sales, even down to the " don't solicite syw point redemption" ( takes away from gross margain) etc... these are all things in my opinion that our company is doing to make as much profit or save until we close.
