Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Well Operations Management in UK are always behind the curve.

Totally clueless bunch of back slappers who have no experience outside of COP. Cant see wood for trees. Fumbling along thinking they are leading the industry when all they are doing is protecting their own hairy asses.

Burning money like its going out of fashion and dont like this to be highlighted to them. Hiding failure and selling it as success. Just as well executive management doesnt understand the business otherwise they wouldve been found out years ago.

Sinking ship comes to mind.

The UK BU, birthplace of terrible leaders and even worse exploration leaders. Cut this cancer out asap.

The company made a huge error when they turned down Ratcliffe's offer. Ratcliffe would have turned this BU around by keeping and rewarding the few competent people and firing the incompetents and useless masses.

Now the BU is left with nothing but BP-operated Clair Ridge. But have no fear: the U.K. BU serves as a pipeline for feeding brown-nosing incompetent executives into the worldwide Leadership Forum.

They do difficult stuff and take risks in design to enhance projects - that’s the right direction. ConocoPhillips needs more of that and less bean counters shouting accountability for cost and time.

Ouch - you might as well have deacribed the well engineering function in general. When you lie to yourselves and each other it’s impossible to improve. The best thing that coukd be done is for the ELT to independently hire consultants with well engineerinng and management consulting experience to benchmark well engineering performance. Now that would drain the swamp!
