Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

Accenture India Layoffs

Accenture is laying off big time in India. They have brought a new appraisal process last year(2016) under the guise of doing away with bell curve.

But in reality, the new appraisal process has been used to brutally earmark the employees under "Need Improvement" and then fire them.

Anywhere between 5000 - 10000 people have been laid off. Mostly in senior levels. Someone should file a lawsuit in India against this company

Accenture is one of the very few companies who does not believe in losing precious manpower after investing large amount in their training. The hiring and inductions costs itself is so high that they pick the best fit candidate and do everything possible to retain employees.

Even during the 2008 recession, Accenture did not terminate a single employee due to lack of business. ACN in fact used that opportunity to tweak some delivery costing variables, and started focusing more on optimal process delivery..which is why employees generally complain about packed workdays(~7 hrs of production), while their friends in other companies (including those orgns who lay off employees w.o reasons) may have only 3~4 hrs of serious work in a day.

How does the consulting bench in the US look like?

That's your best predictor of future layoffs - the consulting is always a leading indicator of what will hit services... When the US sneezes, India catches cold.

I am a SM, left in 2011. After ACN I joined a small consulting company, we are currently having layoffs - our board here on layoffs.com is fairly lively...

Good luck to all...

Every single post here is about India, so I reckon, no layoffs in the USA and other geographies.

We've been pretty aggressive when it comes to counseling people out, performance based firings, etc. I am not aware of any layoffs in it's basic sense (reduction in force due to business conditions).

I am in Pune, I've spent 22 months in the USA (never heard about layoffs there - some folks noted that cuts took place in 2002 and 2008 due to economic conditions in the USA)
