I don't think that OP was talking about that, but about giving details about you (or any other person) that IS personal identifiable information. Like giving your name (obvious) or putting too much details into one place (i.e. you state where you work, your position and years of experience together).
I read the rules, this site really doesn't allow personal info, so I guess that kind of posts will be nuked, and the person banned. They'll probably see the person who asks for that kind of information as malicious, and ban him too, I know I would if I was in their shoes.
I will give you an example the post on this site has the potential to have a very negative effect on the town of Sidney Nebraska. I welcome every post which is truthful and met to inform the pubic. However it is dangerous if someone has a extreme hate for Cabela's and Sidney they could simply make up lie after lie and perhaps have a very negative effect on housing or business or even have tremendous stress on families. therefore I have tried to see how reliable the post are concerning what source the post is coming from and if the information is backed up my any reliable source.
I do not really agree on I think you can ask specific of a person background as long as there is no chance of disclosing who they are. I will give an example. a comment do you have a job. there is what 1 in 130 million you will disclose the person. or what are you basing the opinion on. what one in 500 million.
