The Southeast Alabama Medical Center has started "optimization" of resources - this is just a different name for layoffs. People hate layoffs, so maybe a different word will make them feel better about this... WTOT had a story on this and it was in the news as well. The layoffs are not in medical staffing, but instead are in HR and other overhead dpts (engineering, support, maintenance, facilities)...
