@1vgh. Yes that would really bother me too as that isnt right. Others have questionned why I am on this site as I am not upset with my experience at Sears right now. I am on this site trying to understand what is going on out there that so many are upset. I have gotten a lot of good insight, and I share it with others as there are many valid points. It just makes me sad as this was a good company, and yes I defend it as I somehow feel the need to, but it breaks my heart when I hear about some of the hardships in the stores.

@1zaq It seems like the corporate level is the only chance to advance, but yes indeed the retail sector their is no such thing as advancement (the only time I saw was recently was when this girl took a lead position). The funny thing when the previous person got fired he was a lead never got a raise. I think they were fed up so a veteran jumped in when the position opened she being attracting got the position and she said she would not take the position unless she got a raise (well she got one thats the only time I seen that ever happen). I was surprised she got a raised she has been the only person I ever heard getting a raise after being their for quiet a while.

The only thing that bothers me more than not ever getting a raise is when the manager lies to you. The manager in charge of my department has lied for years. I have heard her promise her associates I will give you full time if you work hard enough and prove to me you have exceled. I would say the time I was their about 6 really tried and s---ed up to her. Not a single one got that full time position. She would basically promise something that was never their. I think its pretty messed up to do such thing making someone delusional something that she is using as an excuse to squeeze the associate to work hard and get nothing in the end.

I think each person is different. In corporate you can get a raise, you just need to be promoted. That is what has changed over the years. So you try to get promoted every couple of years.....other than that it is up to your VP. Now ftom what I am hearing with the stores there isnt room for advancement anymore, so I completely understand the store associates that are upset. I would be too if my hours were cut back as badly as it sounds like they are. Yes that would be terrifying to me too. But for corporate folk, we have the opportunity to post for promotions pretty easily, so I dont understand why anyone would be upset with that?

@1qrd Thats the point when you work for a company you work they pay you. The problem is they don't appreciate you for your hard work. People that have worked for years trying to stay loyal and yet no pay increases, but they have added more work and cut hours.

If you have a job you do your job, but it doesnt mean we have to be grateful for Sears we are doing our end they do their end. I would see a lot of people actually be grateful if they got pay increases and they actually were appreciated.

Its not the same person a lot of people post their personal experience what is happening with the company. You don't dislike Sears, but what is their to like other than getting paid? Its just a job people dislike Sears for how they are treated.

@gav I just dont feel that way, but maybe I am the only one. As long as they pay me, I dont feel bad about anything. And no one is telling me everything will be okay. They are giving me what info they can. I agree to what I am being paid every day I go in to work. That is my decision.

I work in corporate. Everyone is leaving or looking to leave. The only investment I have seen is in the energy to fire people which occurs weekly. When people leave they are not replaced. Services and benefits are taken from us daily. Budgets cut across the board. Every day I come to work I expect to be fired. HQ is a filthy mess and is falling apart. Leaders are nowhere to be seen. Enthusiastic collaboration I have never seen. Bullying is rampant. People who would have been fired long ago at another company for incompetence/bullying remain. I have never seen HR. Staff promotions, investment in staff is non-existent. Vendors are running. I could not come to work for a month and no one would notice/care. I have worked in the corporate world at big companies. I know what success looks like and what failure looks like. I have not seen one gesture of any kind real or political to aid us in a so called 'transformation', feel free to highlight one if there has been. This company will fail. I post this not because I want to see my company fail. I want it to succeed and work hard every day to help it. I post this because the disrespect this company shows its employees angers me and people deserve to know. People need an outlet to voice this.

gbq- While you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you, that same hand is reaching into your back pocket and stealing your wallet and then patting you on the back and telling you how everything will be alright. And in a short while the foot will be on your backside kicking you out the door.

And yes, you are in denial. What shred of evidence or truth have you seen in the last 10 years that show you that they are truly trying to make this business work?

@dv1 - You are definitely not "a misguided soul." You are so deep in the realm of denial that there is no hope of ever guiding you back!

Now you are making me laugh....you are being obnoxious just to be obnoxious. I get it. Once again I am the farthest thing from a misguided soul. It's just I think sometimes you guys post these things just to get a rise out of people, and I am saying don't play with people like that who are worried about their jobs.

I almost feel like the same person is posting all the negative articles. Yes, I saw this too. Once again not surprising by any means. I just chuckle when the person posts these articles as I feel like this person must really dislike Sears Holdings. I can't dislike Sears Holdings as at least for right now they are paying me, so I really don't want to "bite the hand that feeds me."
