State of affairs

it is laughable that Cognizant are forcing employees who has worked in Cognizant for 10-18 years in the company in the name of performance.there is no ethics, integrity and transparency now in cognizant, its in a complete mess with the top management not knowing how to increase profitability, complete politics and favoritism is destroying a company once upon a time was a great one, indeed sad state of affairs

I am sorry for your layoffs but stop blaming the investors. Our retirement money is in the companies. Even your 401K accounts are attached to corporate profitability. Why should we take low returns and ruin our retirement wealth so that company can keep you even when you do not appear to bring in any billable services? Sorry guys, that is how Capitalism works. Years of service do not matter. The problem is your entitled thinking that it should. If you are working for 18 years, you earn too much and the only way you can keep your job is to show that you are worth it. If not then you will be among the first ones to go.

Cognizant has destroyed many families in the last couple of months, unions like FITE are fighting for employee rights, when organisations take unilateral decisions then Unions are the only solution, blacklisting these kind of organisation in all geographies and clients are another step, these US investors want to make profit and after sometime organisations become bankrupt, for these investors employees do not matter

It is good to see unions like FITE getting great support

the president and the CEO etc are hired by the shareholders (on their behalf by the board). the other employees are in turn hired by management. if you feel they are overpaid, short the stock and watch it fall and profit from it. otherwise you are just cribbing

the under performers are the President and CEO who do not know any model than the body shopping one, they should be the first ones to take VRS and move out so that the organisation and employees can survive

people are just happy with the status quo and inertia. thats why they stick with a broken model like body shopping. there's little motivation to challenge oneself and get out of the comfort zone. those who do that prosper even within the bodyshopping organization. it is the way of the world. the hungry succeed. the comfortable get slaughtered.

if someone has worked 10-18 years in one organisation then he would have been upskilling/upgrading himself ,the problem is the organisation was not able to upgrade itself from just a Body Shopping organisation and do not have any idea how to increase profitability to 22% other than by laying off employees

Have been in IT industry for 10+ years here's my 2 cents on this. Have learned that the only way to safeguard yourself is having on a billable position. It doesn't matter how many certification you have done or what level of knowledge/skills you have, it finally comes down to how much money company is making through you and that's what we meant by your contribution within the company. Any IT company today knows that there is no resource who can't be replaced and in India with so many engineers coming fresh out of college every year, it's always a better(cheaper) option to replace experienced pro with fresher's. It's such an industry where they'll start hiring once the clients are ready to spend more on IT and with less spending from clients, layoffs will be there. So it's all about in a billable position and nothing else can prevent you. So be flexible enough to accept different roles according to project demand.

Quit whining. The horses were put out of work when the cars came in. Outmoded skills are of no use if they can't produce future profits for your employer. If you already have the skills, why cry? Think of it as abandoning a sinking ship. And if you have no future ready skills, well tough luck. Your ride is over

Wow what a stupid opinion have been provided as response. It seems like you are from HR department of company. If he is not able to code or architect or innovate then why he was there from last 10 to 18 years ?

Company had made huge money by using employees talent and now due to small roadblock , they are forcing same employees to resign. Even company is not ready to take small stress on it's big balance sheet which was showing huge profit yearly.
