Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

The Saga Continues

I was nursing faculty at Breckinridge, saw the corruption and got out. ITT folded a month later. Now I am working for a Community College with a 90% NCLEX pass rate in the ADN program. I thought my troubles were finally over. Not so much!

The U of PX wants to partner with my school, so that students can get the BSN through them. I was very leery and asked to know what the tuition was--not all that bad. But something spooked me about the UPX Rep who met with faculty, so I went to the BBB.

Oh my! So they tell you the tuition and then tack on a bunch more? Yikes!

Does anyone on this forum have info about what has happened to nursing programs that partner with UPX?

Got out or forced out??? No one gets out of an organization and comes to UOP...

Tuition is not the only concern...the integrity associated with a degree that has the UOP name on it. I would have a major problem referring any Community college students to UOP with their current image problems no matter what tuition discount is offered. Dept of VA sent a bunch of nurses and veterans to UOP for BSN and MSN programs and UOP ended up getting audited by DoD and many other organizations; Dept of Educ, FTC, SEC and HLC. And the Dept of VA no longer funnels the large number of students to UOP that they used. Integrity needs to be associated with a degree. Employees and students with UOP on their resumes or degrees are not as proud as they should be.

I think the issue is you asking the wrong people for feedback! Call the folks in charge of the nursing program! Call the Department if Education! Why would you call the BBB? You "seem" like a somewhat smart individual, why not go to the true source and double check your facts?

the tuition from the BBB is not the RN tuition. UOPX cuts the tuition for RN and K12 degree programs. Also, if your school is partnering with UOPX for BSN degrees they will cut the tuition even lower. My guess is your school is getting a highly discounted rate.

No, I do not believe this to be true! There are so many tools to help you calculate your tuition. There is a tuition calculator on phoenix.edu. This will show your cost based on transfered credits. Where people get in trouble, is when the choose to borrow their full loan amount to get extra money. If you borrow smart, it's not bad at all!
