Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

I was reading all the different post. I was wondering if this solution might be the best answer

Reading the post from the this forum. A. This is not a merger but a sale. bass pro will be the new owner B. New business have came to town and received 10 thousand 200 dollars per employee or( ex business has received a very similar amount for new employees hired). Would anyone oppose if we were to offer bass pro a deal of 10 thousand 200 dollars in a agreement for each employee they hire in the Sidney ne area ( they must keep the level of employees for three years). Quick math would be around 22 million 400 thousand to bass pro to keep two thousand employees in the Sidney area.

Asking for a source on a rumor site is a little bit odd, to say at least. And it's also pointless, as personal identifiable info is not allowed here - even if one would name his source, it would be nuked by site admins.

MR ALL CAPS,

You want to know my source is? It is a master in Business Administration from an accredited University. I learned basic economic and business theory. The example I stated could be understood by a high school level economics student. Only you think this is a radical concept.

Also my example was theoretical, not from an inside source. It is how a business owner might evaluate an incentive from a local government agency.

As you state:

I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THIS FROM NOBODY.

This tells me you should stop posting on this board, because you lack basic human logic, not to mention remedial business skills.

Sorry I am not trying insult you, just stating a fact.

Mr all caps, with all due respect, your posts written in all capitol letters is congruent to yelling/screaming and is quite rude. It is possible to present your arguments and rebutals without yealling

In the future would you Please state your opinions and comments in all lower case.

Thank you

Secondly, since you are demanding that posters provide thier sources and possibly thier identities, Why not in a act of good faith and maturity provide your sources and facts as well as your identity first.

One problem with your thesis.

If BP was to keep all 2000 employees it would cost them (let's say 2000 x avg. $40k per year) which is 80 million per year (x 3 years, for a total of $240 million) Now, the $20 million doesn't seems much of an incentive.

BP is thinking eliminate 1900 jobs in SIdney and hire or move 100 new people in Springfield office and have the staff handle the much larger company. Now the buyer who used to buy for 100 stores, simply buys for 250 stores. That's why they bought Cabela's, they knew they could run the combined companies with about the same work force. That why companies buy other companies. It's called synergy.

yes my math was wrong in regard to this example it was 20 million 400 thousand. however this is just an example of one proposal for thought. the figures used resemble closely the figures used for the new metal company and figures used over the years for the wire plant in regard to hiring . one poster in regard to the new company stated what is the alternative if we do not give the new sale , and the outlook for restaurants and business will remain the same. I know the new economic developer has stated things will be just fine without Cabela's and our new city manager company the money. I will say if the new company doesn't come to Sidney by in large the houses for stated he wish Cabela's would tell him of layoffs so he could promote laid off workers to other industries . contrary to what city officials think if something should happen Sidney Nebraska should lose most of the 2000 employees from Cabela's . this town will be in financial ruins probably 30 to 40 percent of homes will be for sale. 75 percent of the restaurants will be closed. so many businesses will be closed. what will happen to the over tax taxpayer is just so scarely . Where will the money come from to keep Cabela's in Sidney it could come from the same place funds for the new high school, the golf course the pool the new police cars , or perhaps some of the funds could come from the city of Sidney and other part of the funds could come from the final sale agreement between bass pro and Cabela's and the state of Nebraska .

No, your math is wrong: that's $20.4 million. The Cabela's family has that much in their couch cushions.

although the three year requirement may have to be negotiated . however it would not hurt to have some kind of requirement for a mandatory period of time or mandatory number of employees. I was talking to a couple of ex employees at the wire plant who said the plant received they thought around 500 thousand for the number of new employees they hired and a few months latter had a massive lay off.
